Playa Blanca advice

Hoping to book a 10day holiday to Playa Blanca for August. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel? We don't want anything too 'Brits abroad'. In fact, DH and I would probably prefer an apartment or villa but our DDs do enjoy a good mini disco and the evening entertainment! We want them to be happy first and foremost!

Also, is there a better 'end' of Playa Blanca? It seems to spread quite far along the coast. We would like to be able to have a walk in the evenings to bars, restaurants and shops (once the mini disco is over..!) so don't want to be in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks.

Just typed a big reply and it disappeared

We go to Playa Blanca regularly and stay in Las Brisas which is a complex of villas with a nice pool, restaurant and bar. There's entertainment every night although nothing specifically for children. It's just a bit away from the main Playa Blanca strip so it's easy to walk there but it feels much further away. There's a lovely beach nearby and a short walk to the busier beach. A lot of the villas are privately owned and can be booked though websites like Owners Direct.

Thanks Floppity. It's funny because my late parents-in-law used to go to Las Brisas every year. I wasn't sure it was family friendly but from what you say it sounds like a real possibility.

Never booked anything with owners direct or similar. Is it possible to book 10 day holidays or does it tend to be by the week?

I like the Papagayo end of Playa Blanca. There are a few nice hotels up there (I stayed at the Iberostar Papagayo) and there is a nice little shops/ bars complex nearby. It is about 10-15 min walk to the marina and maybe another 20 mins or so to Playa Blanca proper. I think all the hotels run a bus.

HoppityVoosh · 15/04/2015 18:54

My 4 year old loves it but he's not that into kids clubs. I think he's happy because he gets to go swimming, eat ice cream and drink capri sun's all day!

I'm not actually sure about the 10 day thing. I've only ever been for a week or two. Although because they are privately owned I'd think the owners could be flexible if they wanted. I've never actually booked it, we always go with my parents so they do the booking! I know this time my mum actually emailed one of the owners directly to book it though her, I'm not sure if that's usual practice.

We go in 6 weeks, not that I'm counting!

Thanks Twilight and Hoppity. Will look into both - Las Brisas and hotels in the Papagayo end.

My Dds aren't into kids' clubs either but love mini discos and evening entertainment!

Can highly recommend Princesa Yaiza it has great kids facilities and a mini disco at night. It's located between the marina and the town and right on the beach.

rennyrenoir · 16/04/2015 23:03

Yes, Princesa Yaiza looks lovely but it's coming up quite pricey unfortunately.

Hoping to book something this weekend as this whole holiday search is starting to do my head in. I seem to be going round in circles!

I dont know if this helpd, but while I've been doing research on playa blanca ive found that there is a regular bus service that has a flat fair of â?¬1.40 from one side of playa blanca to the other.

We stayed in the paradise island last Easter. The rooms are very dated and the disco area cramped and hot. Wouldn't go there again

We stayed in a bungalow complex (Coloradamar) at the papagayo end of PB. The bus to PB stopped right outside.

Was quite like a villa only shared pool - reasonably private as in you couldn't see any other bungalows from yours. There were a couple of restaurants and a nice supermarket very close, and a childrens playpark.

About 15-20 minutes walk to the marina, but we liked the evening stroll. We usually took the car when going to the beach -the nearest beach wasn't great but several in PB itself and of course you must go to papagayo at least once - I think you can walk to the nearest one from the eastern end of PB, but the others are quite a trek.

Hi rennyrenoir, we went to Playa Blanc for the first time this Easter. Like others here we stayed away from the resort itself and went to the quieter end further down. We were at Playa Flamingo.
We stayed in an all inclusive hotel called Relaxia Club Lanzasur.
We had our own bungalow, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and large living space. The room was serviced most days, it was a bit basic but clean, nice. There is a patio outside with sun lounger.
There are 3 pools, 2 heated. Loads of sunlounges, never a problem getting one.
The food is much better than I've had anywhere in Lanzarote. Personally I think all the food is pretty crap in Lanzarote, but this place had loads of choice. Lots of salads and bread, and chef on a grill doing fish/chicken etc.
The staff are all very friendly. They do have activities on for the kids and the kids seemed to all love the staff. There is a kids disco etc in he pm.
There is a water park on site. You pay extra for this, but your all inc. status counts here too.
It was never too busy. Sunloungers here too. It was €46 for a family of 5. Our stay only cost £700 for the week so we thought this was ok to pay on top.
The hotel catered for Europeans. Lots of Dutch, German, French, Spanish and Irish families. It wasn't all young families either, a real mixture of ages.
There is a gate out the back of the grounds, then cross the road and walk down a bricked path and there is the sea! 2 mins from the hotel.
This are is lovely and quiet. A lovely sandy beach I'm a small man made harbour so very safe. This is a pedestrianised area and you can walk all the way to Playa Blance-about 25 mins away, or the other way to the light house. It is lovely to walk along here and there are shops and restaurants, we often walked here after dinner.
All in all it was a nice relaxing holiday, and I would recommend it.

I'm surprised you understood anything I wrote-how many errors did I make?!Confused
Have a great holiday.

chicaguapa · 20/04/2015 22:40

Las Brisas is nice. We go to Las Casitas a fair bit, which is next door. I prefer Playa Blanca down that end. Mind you, it's changed loads in the last 30 years. I remember it when there was just one line of shops along the promenade and now they're upgrading the port to put in a cruise terminal. Shock
