RYANAIR GRIPE [angry]

I haven't posted on here before, but I feel the need after today experiencing Ryanair's newest way of exploiting family travellers. Hope you don't mind the intrusion.

I today flew out of Stansted alone with my 3-mth-old daughter. As I expected to board first I waited aside until the boarding announcement was made. I was then told that the rules had changed and families no longer had the right to board first only those who had purchased a priority boarding card (this was not mentioned at all before when checking in)

Essentially to board before other passengers there is a cost of ?2/?3 per person, otherwise no preferiental treatment is given. According to the website this evening the priorty service is 'advantageous' to families before it was free!!!!

I know it won't do any good, but am thinking of writing a complaint. Regardless I wanted to warn other ryanair travellers and if anyone wants to organise a petition or kick up a fuss in another way, I will be there. OOH they really got me riled this morning - luckily for me other passengers showed their intelligence and let all the children and babies queue jump. But that's not the point.

Moondog checking in last is fine if you have reserved seats, mind you why not spot who pushes on first and then when you do board stick your crying due to vomit any minute baby in their lap.

I saw one dads trick to get good seats and no one next to you, give kid a packet of Wotsits and smear some extra on their face for good measure and watch the crowds part. In fact why not get a fake vomit and place it on the seat next to you, jst grimace and point at it every time someone goes to sit next to you.

Sorry I do agree Ryanair are taking the piss a bit now.

I found breastfeeding in ostentatious fashion kept the hordes away....

I don't think that would work for me, my kids are 7 and 9. In fact I quite like the idea of them sitting at the other end of the plane asking someone else how long until we get there

at Moondog

Is Ryanair the only airline who charges for checked baggae? I'm new to the budget airlines (well to holidays involving planes really!} and was angry to hear that they charge. It is the first time I have heard of it.

At the risk of repeating myself, and more importantly sounding rude.

You pay nowt, you get nowt.

He is not a charity.

We flew with Ryanair back from Rome today. The staff actually went down the queue at the gate & took the families & disabled people on board first.

I thought that they were great-I just want to get where I'm going cheaply,on time & with no horrible airline food & they did the job.

I'll happily fly with them again.

SenoraPostrophe · 06/11/2006 17:33

"on time"

"staff...happily"

are we talking about the same company? do you work for them?

Mirage · 06/11/2006 17:36

No,never flown with them before, but the staff were fine & we got in early on both journeys.I can't complain. When I think about the numerous other airlines I've flown with, they were better than some,ie Delta,& Northwest!

SenoraPostrophe · 06/11/2006 17:39

the maximum amount extra I will pay per ticket in order not to fly ryanair is now 30 quid. that's how much I don't like them. easyjet are much better.
