Help needed for first family holiday

We're trying to plan our first family holiday but really have no idea where to start and thought we would turn to wise Mumsnetters for some help! I have a DS that is almost five months old and we'd like to go away as a little family of 3 in June. Ideally we'd like a bit of sun but obviously nothing too hot - maybe Spain? We're also overwhelmed at trying to decide on what type of accommodation would be best. B&B, full board to avoid hassle or self catering to accommodate weaning? In terms of budget, we're hoping to spend not much more than £700pp. Caserio del Mirador with flights is a bit too expensive. If anyone has been to specific hotels / resorts that have worked well with a baby in early summer that would be really helpful. Thanks

Personally I wouldn't worry about weaning while you are on holiday and i'd go to as nice a hotel as you can afford B & B and then eat out. Most European countries are far more child friendly than here so feeding your baby weaning foods will not be a problem plus you can hire a car, go on day trips and eat out in the evenings without being tied to being all-inclusive. Spain, the Greek Islands, Italy etc will all be lovely.

It might be quite hot but so long as baby is creamed up, wearing a hat and drinking lots, all will be well - enjoy!

Either self catering so you can make your own meals sometimes eg lunch on the terrace whilst baby has a nap or a hotel with restaurants. Would never choose b and b personally!

Sorry, would choose b and b board basis in a hotel where can eat in hotel or go out as you want

caserio del mirador have an airstream trailer if you want a budget option and dont mind a bit of glamping, its gorgeous, private, and all the stuff of the main house (like bar, restaurant, toys) just a short walk thru the olive groves... when we were there a couple were in the airstream with a baby and they loved it.

France is lovely and very child friendly. We rented a farmhouse in France, self catering, when DS was 1. It meant that we could stick to our own schedule and by driving over we had our car there.

www.french-country-cottages.co.uk have good reasonable holiday rentals.

Ls Rochelle is very nice.

If you're going self-catering maybe try airbnb.com - some fabulous places at great value
We're just back from Nice and it was great. We're expecting #1 so it was just the 2 of us, but there were loads of young families around. The weather was perfect - warm, but not too warm. And France is very child friendly.

Along the north coast of Wales are several holiday resorts such as Llandudno, Rhyl, Prestatyn and Colwyn Bay.

Dotted throughout the country are many castles.

There are also the Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountains, the industrial heritage of the Rhondda Valley and other valleys nearby and much more besides.
