Cheesy family holiday in Cornwall

Hi everyone, I am well aware this is a very un-Mumsnetty thing to ask about, but we are looking to have a last family holiday all together before my DH's eldest goes off to University. We are thinking Cornwall (I quite fancy visiting Tintagel and Newquay appeals too), and would love a cheesy family holiday park, like Butlins but preferably cheaper - we have three children who will be ages 17, 12 and 3. The oldest children are really easygoing and not too self conscious and both think the idea sounds hilarious and fun.

The problem is, so many of the holiday parks these days are run down and not well looked after. We're not huge fans of caravans either, which makes things slightly more difficult. We want good entertainment in the evenings, a pool and maybe some kids clubs for the younger two. My parents are also looking at coming too but getting their own chalet/lodge/caravan.

Does anybody have any recommendations or places to avoid? All reviews on Tripadvisor seem so mixed, one is raving about it and the other is spitting feathers. We want it to be special and just can't afford to go abroad.

Have heard good things about Hendra park near newquay it's got everything on your list.
Avoid haven.
I think if you are going for an ironic hilarious holiday you may be disappointed as not everyone finds shabby caravans funny. Or just go to a butlins?
Or have a lovely holiday in or near newquay with surfing lessons for the older ones, amazing beaches etc etc loads to do that doesn't involve being in a holiday park.

Looe Bay is very nice and in a good location as well. It has a swimming pool and a club house. assume you need school summer holidays in which case you really need to get on with it as many places have sold out a lot earlier this year. Tencreek in Looe is another place I have heard of but haven't stayed there. on a lot of sites the vans are privately owned but let out by the site that is why there is such a big variation in reviews. when you book ask for new vans only. what is your budget like and when are you going?

There are loads of caravan parks in Cornwall where you can go to laugh at the plebs.

Sometimes we go to somewhere like Chamonix (only more expensive) to laugh at all the public school w***s - in an ironic way. Grin

There's a place at Watergate bay that has chalets, it's not far from Newquay, I'm sure you'd find it with a quick Google

We went to Trevonick in Holywell bay, if that's any help.

Look in to park dean holiday parks, there's a few in Cornwall. If you're willing to travel deeper into Cornwall there's a popular holiday park near The Lizard. I think it is caravans though!

We stayed here in one of the bungalows and had a great time in a rainy picnics kind of way.
