Rome - memorable child friendly place to eat?

Any recommendations for good food? I last went to Rome pre kids and dined in some formal restaurants - not really somewhere I'd envisage taking kids to.

Also, if you've been to Rome could you say what would be unmissable in terms of a place to visit with kids aged 7 and 9?

Thanks in advance

coloseum

walk up spanish steps and hire bikes in the park Villa Borghese, near Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps. You may easily reach it by metro (stop Flaminio or Piazza di Spagna).
The area above Piazza del Popolo offers a great panoramic view of this park, there are also some attractions for children. Moving into the park you can also rent a bike ( a “normal” one, or bikes for up to 4 persons).

buy bread cheese ham etc for picnic from deli /supermarket first

hop on hop off bus tour

any trattoria, osteria, or pizzeria look for set menus

We took 9 and 5yr old DDs and they loved the Coliseum. Its worth paying the bit extra for the group tour, you get headphones, they liked that. They also enjoyed Vatican City.
Don't remember any memorable restaurants, but do remember that they were expensive!

Italians love kids so you can go to any restaurant and be praised for your well-behaved (normal by British standards) children. Most places will rustle you up a plate of "pasta al pomodoro" and some "prosciutto cotto" (cooked ham) for the children even if it's not on the menu. If you order from the normal menu, not the fixed price one you'll win their hearts!

In Rome I have good memories of a pizzeria in the square where they hold the city fruit market in the mornings (I'll get back to you with the name). It was on the less busy side of the square and we arrived early in the evening so were made very welcome (only had a 2 yo at the time). Simple food and a great experience. Hope this helps!

Campo dei Fiori! As the lights went down, a busker started playing "Take Five" on the sax (ba DAPadaa) and I go misty-eyed even now. Probably do that to all the tourists!

Here you go. It's 14 years ago now, but IIRC it's the middle building on the right in this photo.

Colosseum obviously complusory.
Le Domus Romane is newish excavation of two villas and uses projections to explain building/structure. Better than I'm making it sound! Need to book. Can phone from UK.
Depending upon whether your DC are sensitive, the Capuchin Crypt is mind boggling. Ds age10 was fine and we had a good chat about it.

Trattoria Melo halfway up the wide & long flight of steps from Trajan's Column is very child friendly. Family run and prone to breaking out into a bit of music in the evening. Food was simple but delicious & reasonable price.
