Seat size on long haul flights

I planning a dream trip to the USA in the autumn. I've put on a lot of weight since the last time I flew and am secretly worried about how well the plane seat will cope with my 'generous' curves.
Can anyone advise as to seat size? I'm trying to lose weight, but all previous attempts have not been successful. ??

If you look on a site called seatguru, it will tell you different seat sizes by airline / model of airplane.

Seat "sizes" seem to be able to cope with quite a variety of people sizes, so you should go OK. I'm of a generous stature and fly quite regularly with no problems.
What will vary is the distance between the seat in front, which in turn affects how comfortable you find it with the tray table down. Also, seat belt size - but extenders are available if necessary.

if you look on the airline website for 'passengers of size' or similar it will give some guidance - the Americans are used to this, after all! That or seatguru will tell you the seat pitch - the distance from seat back to seat back which tells you legroom. Width should also be there somewhere.

If you are REALLY big you may need to book two seats.

give the airline a call, they want your custom.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll have a look and hopefully put my mind at rest and keep on with the diet. ??
