Legoland opinions?

DC (11 and 9) are desparate to go to Legoland, but we've always been put off by the cost and the idea of long queues.

However, this year their schools are having a random teacher training day on 2nd October - I am thinking this day won't be busy as it isn't school holidays or even tagged onto school holidays? Is this likely to be the case (really DON'T do queues)?

Also welcome any hints as to do how to "do" the day as cheaply as possible and make the most of it - it's unlikely we will ever go back!
Many thanks

No tips other than take your own food. It's pretty pricey there.

Legoland is great - you'll all enjoy it. Going on a school day is a fab idea -the queues can get very long in school hols etc.

I love legoland.

Be aware it is aimed at younger children and your 2 are probably at the upper end of the range. If they are complete thrill seekers then they could be disappointed by the rides at legoland. There is 1 not very scary roller coaster! Which even I can cope with and I am a wuss.

But if they like Lego then there are the Lego rooms which should be quiet on the day you have.

Cheapest way would probably be to pre book tickets but look out for offers on cereal packets. There is often one child goes free with an adult offers.

If you are likely to go to any of the other merlin attractions then look at offers for merlin passes.

Definitely a good idea to go on a random non-holiday. We went two years ago in mid September as the DCs weren't in school in the UK. They walked straight on to everything meaning that we got round almost the whole place.

Yes, take own food and try and find some money off vouchers. We used ones from cereal boxes but if you keep you're eyes open in the supermarket there's often something with them on.

Why legoland, specifically? It's really aimed at younger kids; my 8 and 10 year old aren't really interested in it any more and haven't been for a while. If they aren't really into thrill rides and absolutely adore lego, then maybe, but tbh I'm not sure you would get value out of it.

We went on inset day in October, no queues could go on rides as many times as like. Agree your children are perhaps too old.

Really dislike Legoland, lots of concrete and the Lego displays are twee and ancient. Think it's more for smaller DC too. Food is awful too.
