drinks for toddlers on the plane

My kids just like water or milk so we usually just take a drinks bottle/flask out for them each. Can I take their drinks flasks through airport security or will they take them away as they are over 100ml in size or whatever the rule is?

We took flasks of water and diluting juice, I just had to taste them going through security.

Ah great thanks! I'm tight and don't want to buy bottled water for them to spit food into (they will be 4 and 1.5!) They can then use their flasks all holiday too

you can buy both water and milk the other side of security and the milk will still be chilled. There will also be drinking fountains for free water.

(they'll also give you water on the plane)

Thank you!

I found that from toddler age it very much depends on the airport and staff. We had to empty DD's flasks once.

We buy the, yes overpriced, bottle of water at the airport but DH and I also need water on a flight. We normally go through a 1.5l one together.

I think it is just one of these things I take into account when travelling.

We were allowed to bring our cups with water through security.

However, very friendly cabin crew then gave our eldest (2.5y) two (!) fruit shoots which she loved... ShockSmile

We flew through Geneva last week where there was a 'family' security queue/zone of chaos, and the security guy told us we were entitled to take any drinks we needed for under-4s.

But then at Heathrow when flying with prescription only milk for babies a couple of years ago they made us open it which meant we had to throw it away (5 hour very hot flight)...

The inconsistency drives me a bit mad, but if the under-4s rule is correct it would be worth reading up on it.

We also carry reusable sports bottles and just down the drinks ourselves/tip them down the sink if too full at security.

Bring their water bottles empty. There are water fountains after security for you to fill them up.

Just take the bottles empty and fill up after security. Most cafes will fill with water for kids for free and they will on the plane

It's only 99p for a 750 ml bottle of water in the duty free shop ...not expensive to be honest.

I fly regularly with my 21mo between London and France, and have done ever since he was 6 weeks old. Also within Europe. I always travel with plentiful drinks, toddler meals and snacks. When I was BF I always had expressed milk in my bag plus at least one bottle of emergency ready made formula. I now travel with at least one sippy cup or straw cup with water or diluted juice...I've never had any problems, but they pretty much always test the liquids and food. No need to taste any more, they somehow do it by machine without opening the packs...

take big empty bottles and fill from tap after security.
