Where to meet between Australia and UK

We are meeting up with family either July or August. We are in the Uk they are in Australia. We are looking at somewhere in between. Anyone know what Asia is like that time of the year - it is monsoon time? Or would the US be better. Thanks

California won as our half way point for a family holiday with Dd now living in New Zealand. It was a fantastic way for all of us to have a holiday together.
When Dsd comes to UK she has masses of family to visit and Us going all the way to NZ we want to see more than just her new home town.

Did a round toad trip from LA to San Fransisco, Yoemite, Death Valley Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and then our separate ways home.

The whole trip and flights worked out the same as just the flights alone x 5 to New Zealand .

Considered South Africa and Thailand but vaccinations needed and needle phobic Dh got the casting vote.
I love the idea of a Safari!

Dubai may be an option but it would bore me to death.

USA was easy, easy to book, easy to travel, no vaccinations, plenty to see and do to suit all age ranges and we didn't do Disney and didn't miss it.

I have been to Thailand in August twice. It was beautiful! The odd hour of rain but overall amazing weather. I would recommend the north if you want to see the beauty of Thailand! Or the island if you want to chill :)

Where are they in Australia? If they're in Perth then South Africa?. If they're on the east coast then Thailand or Malaysia are options. I agree with Zanzi that the west coast of the US is also about halfway.

Zanzibaragain · 04/03/2015 20:53

Also completely freaks out Americans when you explain how they are half way.

I would choose San Francisco over LA but there is loads to do in California. Disney wasn't on our radar either! So many other things to see and do. I would also recommend west coast Canada or Alaska. Great in July/August. I think Hong Kong is pretty hot-humid in July/August as is a lot of Indo China.

I would go to Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos

Borneo is dry in July and August and so is Bali.
Personally prefer Borneo to Bali: great food, Kuching is a great city, Mt Kinabalu in Sabah, treetop walks, see orang utans in the wild - fab place!

If you are including elderly/cautious relatives, my (now in her 80's) Mum loves Singapore. I love the foot massage machines in departures/international transit. I don't remember it being rainy in August.

If you are going to the US I think many of the schools are back by mid-August.

Hawaii? We live in Melbourne and that seems a popular place to visit from here.

movingtokent · 08/03/2015 10:24

Any idea what the weather is like in Hawaii July/August?

Singapore ? Beautiful and you have Senatosa if you want to split the time

SoMuchForSubtlety · 08/03/2015 11:17

Singapore is quite boring I think. Ok for a stopover but not a lot to do for a proper holiday.

Longdistance · 08/03/2015 11:19

Mauritius? SA?

Chchchchanging · 08/03/2015 11:26

Hong Kong
Singapore
LA
Avoid Dubai or abu dabi - it will be 50 degrees then
