So where would you go with teens for a few days in the UK - criteria:

Nice boutique hotel (pref with spa)
Shopping
Maybe theatre
Great restaurants
Places to visit - not too highbrow

Money no object
Away you go.............Grin

Edinburgh! Ticks every one of your boxes and cheap deals on the train or flights if you book in advance. Avoid peak of Festival time in August and you can get reasonable hotel prices too.

I love York

Bath - definitely. they have an open rooftop spa swimming pool. the pump room for afternoon high tea is great fun with teens. we stayed somewhere cheap so we could max our spa and shopping spend. there is a costume museum here which is really interesting and lots of independent quirky shops and places to eat. very accessible on foot.

Bath, is great, I did the whole spa thing with my daughter (a bit older at 23) when she was a student there. Just loved Bath.

That said, York is equally good!

But. I second bath. I love bath.

Thank you so much for the ideas everyone- we've been to a couple of places mentioned but plenty more remain undiscovered so thanks- Easter holidays may be rescued!

Chester is nice. Brighton?

I think you could enjoy almost any large city. Nottingham, for example, has lots of diverse attractions.
