Cheapest way to get small amount of Euros - around £200?

I am going for a skiing mini break in 2 weeks time (YAY). We're half board and transfers and wine are included, I'll put lift pass on the card, so it's really just some money for lunches.

Normally I'd just exchange a bit more than I need so over £500 to get the Post Office rates, but cash flows a bit tight atm so was looking for cheapest way to exchange less.

I've seen a way to get a coupon for ICE transfers at the airport where you don't get airport exchange rates - you get a better one. Has anyone done that? Or what about just getting Euros out from the cash machine when I get there - although we're landing in Geneva then travelling to France so they may not have Euros?

Any thoughts?

Here's the MSE link which will find you the best rates. If you're in Central London and can pick up in person you can get some phenomenally good rates from small specialist outfits.

I always get mine from the post office as I can walk from home. I might be able to get a couple of euros extra by going somewhere else, but that would be wiped out in petrol, parking etc with it being such a small amount.

Having just checked, it looks like the ICE voucher rate from Gatwick/Heathrow is very competitive, so if that's easiest it's probably a decent choice.

For £200 the difference between getting a good rate and getting a bad rate will not be very much.

So just do whatever's convenient.

ICE have always had very good rates.

Fwiw part of Geneva airport is in France - we hired a car from the French side. I can't remember how easy/clear it is to know which bit you're in & how to get from one to the other but you probably can find a French ATM there

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 22/02/2015 11:24

As your transfers are included you won't need cash until you reach the resort & most of them will have at least one ATM

We are going from Edinburgh.
I didn't know part of Geneva airport was in France, must try to find that bit when purchasing coffee as the Swiss prices are ludicrous.
Thanks for all posts I think will go for ICE as handiest option.
