Need a Carry On Suitcase

Where would you shop & what would you look for?

I used a big rucksack before but back ache means switch to tow-on case. For a work journey on KLMI max bag size = 55 x 35 x 25cm (small!).

Wotta nightmare. Most the online specs seem to exclude wheels, but air lines include wheels in measurements, don't they? Is hard shell case more durable & more room inside, worth the extra £20-£40?

I only found this and this, not thrilled with either. Do I need to trawl real life shops with tape measurer in hand, What would you do?

Whoops! This is the first link (hoping thread doesn't diverge weirdly)

be aware that wheeled cases can be worse for your back - the twist as you tow it and the sudden jerk when the wheels catch in the pavement are really bad. I tried one once and that was it. Wheels and handles also add useless weight.

smaller proper backpack (with hip belt) and less in it?

We've got two of the World's Lightest Luggage, got them in Asda about three years ago. Cost £25 each.

They're light, robust and handle very well, and have so far travelled on RyanAir, EasyJet and Vueling without falling foul of the dimension/weight police.

I'll see if I can find a linky.

We use Antler All Direxions. Not cheap but sturdy. They fit BA spec but not sure about cheap flights. M and S do sturdy ones too. Easy Jet have a very small spec. Some luggage web sites tell you what airlines approve what cases. It is not that difficult to get the right one. I think the size you quote is about BA size but don't forget some budget airlines will not let you have a handbag as well. If you do, it has to fit into the case. The case cannot expand too much either or they will make you pay for he hold. At walk up prices, this is usually £40.

thanks... I think I'll go for sports direct one, it's hardly more than a big box but still best bet. I have borrowed some drag-along cases and they don't aggravate my aches.
