Hi
Can anyone recommend a holiday for us for next summer with a 12 month old baby? We need somewhere obviously baby friendly, maybe a caravan or a cottage somewhere in the uk? has anyone had a good/bad experience?

First advice - go with a friend! Then the adults can sit up chatting while the little ones sleep.

Then take a look at the thread Travel : UK : Dorset Self Catering

I put a couple of ideas on there - so have others.

We stayed in a great cottage in North Wales that had a hot tub within baby monitor range so we could sip bubbly wine ( ok gulp it) in the evening once the nipper was asleep. Theres loads to see there if the weather is good.

It was in the Hoseasons brochure called The Apple Store.

Def self catering nothing worse than having to perch on the bed in the same room as a sleeping baby all night or going to the bar and phoning up room all the time (baby listening) or trying to find somewhere to plug in your monitor.

Agree go for what you would like baby won't notice. Make sure accomodation has nice comfy furniture so you can relax in the evening and take tons of nibbles and booze. Watch out for selfcatering with granny furniture, you know the ones that look like they raided granny's house or the second hand shop. Spent a few evenings on horrible chairs.

We have rented cottages through Welcome Cottages a few times and they have always been good, and competiively priced. Also used them in France.

I'd definitely do self catering - far easier than a hotel with a baby or child. We nearly always do self catering nowadays; DH and I are not really hotel people and like to do our own thing.
