Anyone been recently? Is it worth the £160 they want to charge me for 1 night B&B.

I'm thinking of takind DDs who will be 3yrs and 15mths. Is it suitable for that age? Don#'t want to go in the theme park, just the water park.

TIA

Blimey, that is a lot, no B&B is worth that surely?

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/10/2006 15:48

The water park would cost you about £12 each (IIRC) if you weren't in the hotel, maybe the little one somewhat less. So you're paying over £100 for B&B.

There's a lovely B&B right by the main gate, and plenty within 5 minutes drive.

Yeah, that's what I thought , SHR!

Thanks saqqarmaker! Didn't realise that you could just go to the water park without the hotel. Do you know the name of the B&B, by any chance?

Think it's Ivy something. Will google, hold on

This one Trough Ivy House .They have a suite which may fit you all in.

Otherwise Google B&B's in Farley or Alton villages. Also Oakamoor.

You can book waterpark tickets online I think.

It's actually quite basic considering the price - the room was ok but not more than that. The hotel restaurants don't do lunch, which isn't very helpful.

The water park is good for that age - but TBH I'm not sure it's worth a trip especially for them to go there - Center Parks would probably be a lot more worthwhile.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/10/2006 16:05

The restaurant is expensive and they are very picky about taking your own food and drink into the pool area.

We've gone to the splash landings hotel quite a lot, but normally when the special offers come out, which include things like Dinner.

Last time they mistakenly charged us for dinner at the restaurant and the bill was £60 plus for 4 of us and my two basically had sausage and chips!!! So, yes, the restaurant is overpriced but OK if you have a deal on (watch the website or get on the mailing list for these).

If you stay at the hotel you get early access to the park and other little perks but if you're only using the pool (where we've always been cold, despite it being heated) I think it's overpriced.

Thanks everyone, esp saggarmakersbottomknocker for rooting out that B&B for me. We've already done 2 of the center parcs and were just looking for something different.

did you know that off peak splash landings do an aquatot session for £5 ? This could help to make it a cheap break.

We went for a couple of days in the summer hols with dd (6) and ds (4). We had a good time but couldnt imagine spending a whole day in the pool and tbh cant really see the appeal for your little ones. Cant see they'd get anymore out of it than a regular pool. My ds was too small for all the slides except the tiny one in the baby section (just like a normal slide but wet and lands in the water). Dont want to put you off but I think that you would probably feel you hadnt got much for your money. HTH
