Hello, I really need some advice here.
I'm planning a week holiday in Apls with my 7 and 8 year old kids, my parents who iscoming from Asia. We need some kids activities as well as sightseeing for my parents. We'll cross the dover channel and stay a night both way-thinking Troyes or Dijon. Plz let me know any nice places to stay in between.
Also can you recommend apls area, probably wants to stay in france border which is cheaper. What kind activies can we do? Also places for sightseeing?

I've never been there and am getting even more confused since I looked up things. Plz plz help!

Thank you.

Lots of walking and cycling. You can take cable cars up and then walk down. Beautiful scenery and nice little restaurants.

You'd also get stuff like crazy golf, swimming pools, pony trekking.

I went to Chamonix in the summer about 20 years ago and that was nice. It's a much bigger town than a lot of other bases so you've got shops, more bars, etc.

Chamonix is fab. Horse riding, ice rink, local lakes with beaches, big swimming pool. We had a great time.

Thanks, both! Chamonix was in my mind too. Would you recommend camping or flat rental? We usually rented a cottage for summer holiday but it seems cottages costs over 200 per day! If you have experience staing in appartment, plz let me know how it's like. Many thanks! :)

Have a look at erna low , Pierre et vacances and interhome for rentals. Morzine might also be worth looking at.

Morzine looks good if you like adrenaline activities.
High ropes course, laser tag and big swimming complex in the middle of town. Summer sledge run, mountain bikeong, hiking etc on the edge. White water rafting down the valley. Dairy and slate mine visits are possible. Lots of chalets and apartments to rent. Its about an hours drive to Geneva.

VivaLeBeaver · 30/01/2015 19:15

I've only camped when we've been.

RCheshire · 30/01/2015 19:53

Chamonix and morzine both have a good range of accommodation and activities. Definitely obvious (& I don't mean that in a bad way) candidates

RCheshire · 30/01/2015 20:03

Oh and yes the Alps in summer are fantastic (and spring, autumn and winter)

anotherdayanothersquabble · 30/01/2015 20:20

Try the tourist office sites for accommodation or Chalets direct. If you wanted self catering there are hundreds of places that rely on winter bookings. In the summer, supply far outstrips demand. You can find a bargain if you look, probably more so in Morzine than Chamonix.

All the comments really help. Thanks alot! Can anybody tell me how it's like camping there? Any nice campsite??

Chamonix tourist office are very helpful work accommodation. Stayed in morzine but not tried the tourist information

Camping in the Alps is fun, though weather can be unreliable and a little cold at night. You could opt for a 'chalet' (wooden mobile home type thing). I have stayed in Bosson (awesome views of the glacier!) before and the one next door Des Ecureuils looked quite hippy and fun. The area up towards the Swiss border near Vallcorine looks amazing but could be a bit far from the action.
