Frigiliana vs Nerja

Does Frigiliana (makes me think of fanjo!) have a decent number of restaurants? I've found some good flights from Malaga and then looking for self-catering with pool and good child friendly beaches but walking distance to restaurants in the evening.

Anyone got any experience of either or something simulation the region that might work? We loved Pollensa in Majorca last year and hoping for something similar. ð??¸ð??¹ð??·ð???

Ooh will be watching this one. A friend at school has just recommended Nerja area to us so it is a possibility for this year. We used to go to PP when the children were little , we are looking for that sort of vibe. We also really love the fab beaches in the Western Algarve and the Lagos area-would like to hear more about Nerja.

Nerja is lovely. We stayed nearby and drove to Nerja most evenings. Lagos in Portugal is similar too. The only negative for both of those places for me are the transfer times from the airports.

Hi, this is my first post so hopefully I've done this correctly.
We went to Nerja in 2007 and even in February there was a good choice of restaurants in the main town. Frigilliana is beautiful and we had lunch at a restaurant at the highest point in the village looking back across to the coast. Food was lovely there but more expensive than in Nerja. At the time I only saw a few places to eat in Frigilliana but this was 8 years ago in February. Nerja can apparently get quite hectic in high season. I think further down the coast (still in Nerja) there is a great beach with lots of apartments and villas and several places to eat.
We had a lovely time, I hope you do too.

We went to Nerja two years ago. Lovely place, fairly busy, very family friendly. We stayed about a mile away from the coast in a lovely villa, a bit too far to walk every evening as it's uphill on the way home, although we had a car.
There's a lovely atmosphere in centre of Nerja in the evening; tons of restaurants and bars and fab ice-cream parlours! It's kind of separated into 2 parts, one where the Balcon de Europe is, in the actual town, and then the Burriana beach area which is flanked by a long row of restaurants and bars.
Burriana beach is fairly big and packed with people (we preferred the tiny coves just along the coast where which we more or less had to ourselves.)
We went to Frigiliana for the day; very pretty and a few restaurants and bars; again very hilly (and sooo hot) Our DCs are teens so probably would have been too quiet for them; there are a few little shops but not much else.
If you stay in Nerja just be careful how far 'back' you stay, as an uphill trek in the heat is hard work!
The beach is comparable to Puerto Pollensa, but for me, nothing can beat the amazing waves of the Algarve! Smile

This is really helpful so far thanks- I mainly chose that area as there are cheaper flights from my nearest airport! Will have more of a browse.

Hi there! We used to live very close to Nerja, a little town called La Herradura, and know the area fairly well... happy to recommend specific areas if you need, but agree with the others, Frigliana - although beautiful - would be a place to visit rather than stay IMO as it's quite small and not much for the kids to do... Nerja is lovely (we also used to live in Pollensa!!) not quite as lovely as Pollensa though, and can get v busy in the Summer. Beaches I think are better in Mallorca. Hope that helps! x
