Have just booked a week at the Bedruthan Steps hotel near-ish to Newquay with dh and dd. dd will be 14 months then. Any ideas where to go, and perhaps more importantly where to avoid???!!!
We'd like to go to the eden project - does anyone know what the baby facilities are like there?
Also, any recommendations for good beaches or the best gardens with a 14 month old would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi,
we went to Cornwall (Padstow) last September, DS was 14 mo at the time too.
We found the Eden Project really baby friendly. Loads of high chairs, several microwaves to warm food. They even have baby food jars on sale (a little expensive).
Good pushchair access to most of the areas within the domes. Tractor trains to get back up the hill. DS loved it.
The aquarium at Newquay was a hit. Bit pricey, but you can go in an out all day.
Padstow is good too. DS loved the harbour and going on the ferry between Padstow and Rock (nice beach at Rock and Harlyn Bay).
Worst bit was when we found out that Rick Stein wasn?t baby friendly. Very disappointed. His Seafood restaurant will not accept children under 5 at ANY time.
There?s a nice train park we went to too. I can?t remember what its called, but its not far from Newquay. You park in a car park, buy your ticket, get on the steam train for a really nice 10-15minute journey into the park. There are 3 further miniature type trains to ride. Kiddies play park and nature walks, nice café.
The Bird sanctuary near Bude has good facilities for kiddies too. (Sorry, I can?t remember the name of this either?.sieve brain), but all you need is one of the many ?Where to go? brochures available in almost every café, pub, shop etc and you will find them.

We went a year or two back, when ds was 12 months. We also loved the Eden Project. Also hired bikes on the Camel trail - complete with kids bike seats on the back. It's a disused railway line, so is safe & very pretty.
We also went to Padstow & on the ferry - ds loved it.

Lapa Valley - three mini-railways, nice caff, swings, just generally nice; we had a great day out with 2yo and 9mo. Newquay aquarium also nice, and there's a nice little beach in front of the aquarium too. Facilities for babies at the Eden project were generally fine, but you have to fold the buggy up if you want ride the roadtrain back up to the exit, which is a pain if the baby is asleep (ours was!) and it's a long uphill walk.

Even after living in Cornwall for 6 years, I still haven't been to many tourist places round here but if you want, I can send you all the leaflets for the attractions, and money-off vouchers from the paper. Email me at wobblyknicks at hotmail.com if that's any good.

i went a year ago, here are my impressions of the hotel and what to do in the area here .

Yes Lappa Valley, that was the name of the railway park we went to. Thanks PC.
The bird place was Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary and it was nr. St Ives.
Here?s a link to the web version of the ?where to go? brochure we used most of the time

Fantastic beach at Trebarwith Strand near Port Isaac, only out when the tide is down, so check times but really lovely, unspoilt and clean. Also Constantine Bay which has sand and rock pools for exploring. Eden is amazing, Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow, you can hire bikes and cycle along a disused railway, they can hire you baby seats and trailers. To be honest Padstow is just too crowded and full of Stein-spotters (in my opinion )

Vala that's weird about Rick Stein. We went there about 2 yrs ago when DS was 7mths for lunch, and they were fine about him being there. Maybe they've changed their policy? I thought Padstow was great - wanted to go back this year but too late to book any accomodation (sob). DS LOVED the beach.
