Krakow or Valencia for weekend in May/June?

Its our 10th anniversary and after much debate we've come down to a shortlist of two. I'm happy to go to either, but if push comes to shove I'd rather go to the Med! DH would rather go to Krakow. Opinions?

I don't know about Krakow, but Valencia is beautiful in May

Krakow is beautiful, lovely atmosphere in the old town.

I went in December so I should think it would be nicer in May when you don't have to worry about your nose freezing Grin

I'm think I'm still leaning towards Valencia, although I would love to go to Krakow too. I just keep remembering how lovely the orange blossom smelled when we went to Dubrovnik in May a few years ago. How do I convince DH though? He's part Polish and has never been to Poland.

to be honest, you have to go quite a few miles out of Valencia to find enough orange trees to smell the blossom. So do not count on this or you will be disappointed.

Krakow is beautiful and I loved it. But I haven't been since 1997 so not sure what it's like now!

DH and I had a childfree trip to Krakow 4 years ago and loved it. It depends what you like though. We stayed in the old Jewish quarter which had stylish, quirky bars. Food and drink are cheap but we had to eat Mexican, Italian etc... to get good food. The main square is huge and one of the most stunning I've visited. We went midweek and left on a Friday. It looked like stag parties were descending on the city by the Thursday, but we spent evenings in the old Jewish quarter and it was mostly locals and traveler types there. I love Spanish cities and Spanish food though, so can see why you're leaning that way.

We went in early August and the weather was fantastic. We sat outside in short sleeves until very late each night.

I still can't decide. As we're not planning to go until June though it doesn't matter. Its interesting what you said bryte about stag parties arriving for the weekend and that the local food isn't very good. DH and I like Italian or Mexican or whatever, but its a bit weird going to Poland to eat them!

Yes, I know. DH ordered authentically one night and he enjoys eating most food but was happy to avoid the traditional Polish food after that. On the plus side, the Mexican and Italian food we had was really good.
