Hi,
We're going to Cornwall for a week and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for days out / activities we could do with our 4 year old dd? Also, I'd be grateful for recommendations on places to eat with a toddler in tow - trying to avoid the usual Brewers Fayre stuff as that drives me insane! Thanks v much

Whereabouts in C'wall are you going, spalex?

(Back to work now, but will check later in case I can help with any ideas...)

Depends where you're going, but Eden project is great and v child/buggy friendly. The food's good too!

And there's always the beach!

If you're near the Helford and the weather's ok you could go to the Ferryboat pub and sit on the terrace while dc plays on the lovely quiet little beach opposite.

Also glendurgan garden has a good maze and Trebah next door is also fun for kids with great playground and adventure trails and lovely restaurant.

Have a great holiday!

Thanks - we're going down towards Mousehole, but we've got a week to explore, so we'll be travelling around the area a bit. Have thought of the Eden project, and the idea of a maze sounds fun for dd! Just keeping fingers crosse for some half decent weather now!

Cheney Mill Farm Park at St Erth is good. My dds love it there (they are 4 and 6). Also Paradise Park in Hayle. There's a nice pizza place in Hayle (on the main road) called Pizza Patio, which I think may be part of a small chain, but the food is nice and they are very child friendly. The beach at Sennen Cove is really lovely if the weather is good and Lamorna is close if you're in Mousehole and very very beautiful. If you're feeling flush (??) you could do a day-trip to the Isles of Scilly and visit the sub-tropical gardens on Tresco. Worth a visit, for sure, but helicopter/plane might be a bit expensive. Wouldn't recommend the boat at this time of year. It is rough.

Will come back if I think of any more recommendations...

Just remembered that the Cornish Cyder Farm is free and a nice place to go for an hour or two (not a full day's worth...). There are animals and a tractor ride, etc. And the cafe there is really nice too.

Haven't been to Trebah but want to go next time I'm down there. Lost Gardens of Heligan are also lovely, but quite far from where you're going to be. For a standard (but nice) park with swings and things, Penlee Park in Penzance is good. Oh, and St Ives has got good these days for nice places to eat. (Can't recommend anywhere in particular, I'm afraid, but nice-looking places have sprung up.) Best fish and chips in Morrishes in Redruth (though not a lot else to recommend Redruth).

Have fun!
