Hi,
We are thinking of heading to Mexico or Dominican republic (or other Caribbean island if affordable....) at Easter this year. We are struggling to find anywhere where 2 adults and 2 children get a larger space than one double bed with a sofa bed in the same room. If we did that - no-one would sleep. We need a suite with a separate lounge area, or guaranteed interconnecting rooms. Can anyone suggest anywhere? Thanks

I think all hotels do interconnecting rooms or suites but the price will rocket!

They don't seem to.... I don't mind paying extra if I could find the right thing....

What hotels are you looking at? Have you looked at the hotel websites, if you are looking through thomsons or similar operator, the availability checks don't work on interconnecting rooms sometimes

I was looking through various tour operators as booking the flights and hotels separately makes it astronomical cost wise. Maybe I need to find the hotels first then get the tour operator to book what I want. A good old fashioned visit to a travel agent may be what I need! thanks

We stopped at the Bahia Principe in Punta Cana (DR) in May 12 (booked Golden part of resort, but got bumped up to Ambar - which was adults only (pre DS)). Both rooms we had, had interconnecting doors - which was actually the reason we moved rooms - rowdy yanks next door who after we asked them to keep noise down (they were partying in their room at 4am) nearly bashed down interconnecting door to bash us - not a pleasant experience, but a one off.

Wouldn't necessarily recommend this resort (though the hotel, food, grounds & pools were great) as the sea is a bit rough in that part of the beach, but I would imagine many hotels have interconnecting rooms, they just don't advertise it.

Hope you find something

I've stayed at Sandos Playacar and Sirenis Riviera maya in Mexico. Both had interconnecting rooms available but I'm not sure they could guarantee them. However, Sandos Playacar has 'royal elite' suites available to rent directly from the 'owners' (I think they are time share owners) and some of these have two rooms I think.

We had interconnecting rooms at Bahia Principe El Portillo. We have stayed there twice, once just DH and I at Easter, the beach us stunning and the sea beautiful then. We loved it and took the family there in August; we were a mixed party ranging from 8 - 69 and would have returned this summer however it now involves a four hour transfer, since First Choice (who are the only UK operator using it) changed the arrival airport. A bit much for kids after a 9 hour flight. Such a pity.
