Skiing in Tignes le lac with a 3.5 yr old?

Has anyone got any recommendations of a place to stay in Tignes le lac that would welcome a 3.5 yr old? we plan to take her with us next year in March, I've seen the Mark Warner option but that seems horribly expensive. We will also need a creche/baby ski school- anyone had any good or bad experiences of these in this resort. We are joining a child free group of 20 others so I am limited to this location.

We've used Mark Warner in Val d'Isere and the child care was superb - worth the money. I personally wouldn't recommend ski school at that age - they're too little to enjoy it in my experience and when you are relying on it to allow you to ski it is horrible to have to send them off crying. We've just come back from Val and used an independent nanny service called Nappy Valleys - they may operate in Tignes as well and the girls we had were extremely good and the children had a wonderful time (and as result so did we)

I'd agree with Mrs W. Most 3.5 yr olds might last a little while on skis but the effort of walking on them and standing around whilst others have a go is often too much. My advice would be to concentrate on finding good childcare or nanny service as they should take them out to play in the snow anyway. If you really want to put her on skis book a short private lesson as she will get more out of that or just spend time going up and down the kiddie area with her between your legs if you are confident enough.

I found this , which might be of interest. I'd agree with the others about not pushing your dd on to skis - although it would be nice for her to learn some confidence in the snow, which would stand her in good stead in future years.

Hi there,

not sure if they cover Tignes but we went to La Tania this year with Ski Beat and they were fantastic. They cover all sorts of options for child-care. In our group we had three under-fours in a creche run by fab nannies, then we had a six-year old who did ski-school in the morning and was then picked up by a nanny and looked after for the afternon with another similar-aged girl from a different group. The creche was actually in the same building as our chalet so we had no trek anywhere in the morning and no hassly bag-packing to do. The chalet host cooked tea for the little ones at about 5.30 (which was a bit basic, but for a week, it was ok). The creche said we were welcome to borrow toys and sledges, and we also got one night's baby-sitting included. All in all we had the best holiday ever. The only problem is that it might be expensive for kid-less people to book through them - but definitely worth checking out.
