What do your teens like doing?

Bonsoir · 26/10/2014 21:23

I'm assuming the dates in your OP are fixed (end of June/beginning of July) but correct me if I'm wrong).

If they like wake boarding or water skiing Santa Giulia in Corsica is great. If they like surfing there are great places near Lisbon (and Portugal is much, much nicer than Corsica for grown ups - culture, food, accommodation, style all amazing). If they like nightlife Greek Islands.

Bonsoir There is much more to Florida than theme parks.

Bonsoir · 26/10/2014 21:41

I don't "get" Florida at all when you live in Europe and you are looking for a summer holiday. There are so many amazing places to go for sunshine in June in Europe. A million times nicer (food, style, culture, activities and change of scene). Florida is a winter destination if you live in Europe (unless you want theme parks).

TheWordFactory · 26/10/2014 21:48

I agree that Florida is too hot and wet for my liking in Summer. But then Europe is too hot and busy for my liking at that time!

June should be better though as not full on school holidays.

In the past I've been to Florida at Easter and it's very nice but October is just fab! So wonderfully quiet and not a cloud in the sky. The surfing etc is also good - not too rough for my amateur teensGrin

June would be a very nice time to visit California I think. OP could do San Fransisco, Carmel, LA, San Diego?

Bonsoir · 26/10/2014 21:53

Europe isn't busy until mid-July. The last week of June is positively quiet in the Mediterranean and on the Atlantic Coast of France and Portugal - maybe too quiet? But great value for money!

NickiFury · 26/10/2014 22:21

I've lived, worked and holidayed all over the world and Florida at the right time in the right place is the most beautiful of them all.

Before kids we did a real road trip around Florida. We had one day at NASA and one day at one park. Plenty for us. Spent time in Miami, Sanibel island which I think is great for kids and then a 5 days in the keys. Awesome trip.

Even having a child now I just can't imagine spending more than a few days at a theme park!!

TheWordFactory · 26/10/2014 22:36

I guess it depends if you think you're unlikely to come again.

For me two days Universal and one day Wet n Wild was enough .

I actually found the later more scary! I nearly cried coming down one huge flume on little more than a paddling pool!

thanks so much for all the answers here

unfortunately, after discussing it with dh, we've came to the conclusion we can't afford to go

but thanks anyway x
