disneyland Paris.cheapest/best time of year for deals

We have just returned from Disneyland Paris and would like to book again for next year.
We were hoping to go the first week in July (mon-fri) and were quoted £1750 (hotel. flights and full board) for 4 nights/5 days. They say this is 2 nights free and DD (5) has free hotel and park tickets so it seems expensive. especially considering that it's supposed to be low season.
is there any hope of getting anything cheaper? I've shopped around online and everywhere is about the same price just now even if I try to book separate flights, non- Disney hotels etc.
Could prices for a package come down later in the year or early 2015?
flights are half the cost and as we are in Scotland eurostar or driving isn't really an option.

I think between January and April might be the cheapest.

Where about in Scotland are you, we go from Edinburgh and drive. It's about 3.5 full tanks of fuel, there and back and it was £177 for the train/tunnel.

You could break it up with an overnight stay on the way. DP normally drives through the night, in one go, but is a lorry driver so it's like a days work to him.

We have stayed in Ashford once though, which is only a few miles from the tunnel.

Your £1750 sounds ok though, we were £1450 roughly, for hotel and tickets and that was the Explorers hotel, (kids free) no meals except breakfast and arranging our own travel, in September.

I wouldn't class early July as low season, or any of the summer months really.

Have you thought of Explorers hotel? Still has a Disney Store and shuttle, brilliant pool, soft play and play park.

We went in February half term this year. We stayed in Davey Crockett ranch, family of 5, including a teen, so no free place, had all our meals included and paid just under £1000 for 5 days in disney. That included a night in explorers hotel before Disney, and a cheapo hotel just after, a ferry crossing and a tunnel crossing.

We booked it about this time last year.

Dh looked the other day. If you book it on the French website, it works out much cheaper than the English one.

We are going end of January and paid £360 for 4 nights/5 days (2 nights free + all park tickets) staying at Hotel Cheyenne. Flights are £260 for 3 of us (flying out of Glasgow and into Edinburgh) so £640 altogether. Don't have a meal plan but breakfast is included.

Thanks for such quick replies.
We flew from Edinburgh last time but Glasgow would be just as close for us (live about 30 mins away from both).
We paid £1400 to go for 3 nights/4days last week so I was hoping to get 4 nights/5 days for about the same by booking early but it doesn't seem to work that way!
according to Thomson brochure the first week in July was one of the low seasons.
We really want to go full board especially after seeing how expensive food was in France.
Is the Explorer a Disney hotel?
I felt the only advantage of staying in a Disney hotel was the extra park hours and tickets included (also the regular free bus to the park). Do other non Disney hotels offer this?

The Explorers is a Disney Associate hotel ( I think that's how they term it).

It's very nice, has a great pool, restaurant is ok and there's also a pizza bar.

Park tickets are included, shuttle bus every 10/15 minutes, but if you drive you also get free parking at the parks. You don't get extra park hours though.

We've been there 4 times, but always take the car. I like going by car, takes longer but I don't have to worry about missing flights etc and of course no heavy bags to carry, especially on the way home Grin

I don't know about the best time for deals but we made sure we went when the French were NOT on holidays - so for us it was October half term one year. I think the French school holidays vary from one region to another but avoid the Paris region French holidays if you can (you can check them out online). It makes a huge difference to queues.

So we were there on a Sunday through Wednesday and the queues on the Sunday compared to the other days were soooo much worse. The Explorers hotel we stayed at simply because it had rooms to fit larger families in and it was okay but no extra hours in the park. The shuttle bus did get a bit crowded at busy times but overall it was fine. To be honest we didn't spend that much time in the hotel. I do remember that check in was 3pm and at 2:55pm they did the typical French thing of making us stand at the desk for 5 minutes until it was officially 3pm. This has happened to me one other time at a French place so I have learned to expect it!!

A word of warning about the pool at the explorers hotel.

Males HAVE to wear 'budgie smugglers' in the pool. No shorts allowed. They helpfully sell them there, at a cost of about 25euros a pair!

mouselittle · 14/10/2014 12:06

Not sure how DH would like wearing budgie smugglers Grin

I will investigate the explorers hotel. not too bothered about a pool etc as we really just use the hotel to wash and sleep and are out the rest of the time.
might resort to reducing the visit to 3 nights/4 days, same as before to reduce the cost. Then all I will have to do is talk DH into it Smile
