Anyone want to help plan our honeymoon to New York in December??

We're going beginning of December and I can't wait! I don't want to waste any days so would like most things planned.

Couple of questions....what should I pack to wear? Comfortable shoes are obviously a must, will it be wet? Really cold?

We're staying at the Distrikt hotel near the Port Authority bus station and flying in to JFK, what's the best way to get to the hotel?

We land Wednesday lunch time and leave Monday evening so have five full days.

Things we would definitely like to do:

Helicopter ride over the Hudson etc
Broadway show (which one? When to book?)
Rockefeller centre
Empire State Building
Shopping!
Central Park (what should we do here??)
Times Square

Not sure what else really I don't know much about New York. We're not that into museums Blush but I could be persuaded.

We don't want to waste a whole day just wandering around so any help and tips greatly appreciated. We are foodies too so any recommendations plus things to do in the evening.

Sorry that's really long....Blush

To get to Manhattan from JFK is a standard $52 cab ride - just head out to the taxi rank.

Go for chocolate chip cookie shots at dominique ansel's.

Walk the High Line - if you start at the top end, which I think is at about 33rd street, you come down in the meat packing district which has some lovely places to eat.

Walk as much as you can! We've just got back and according to my Fitbit I did almost 70 miles :-o it's the best way to see the city :)

Central Park is amazing. Last time we went we spent a day there, just walking from the top to the bottom - there is so much to see in there!

Farmers Market in Union Square is incredible to wander round, the range of produce is astounding, and so tasty!

You can get some credit cards
that don't charge for using abroad/taking cash out abroad.

Magnolias for a cupcake!!!

New York Pass could be a cheaper way of seeing major sights, depends on which you would visit.
You can buy theatre tickets from the actual theatres or from a big stand on broadway if you don't know when you want to go yet.

Plan one thing to do each day and a nice restaurant for dinner at night - and then leave some time to meander about. Thats half the pleasure of NYC (although it is likely to be very cold - so wrap up warm and keep plenty of ten/five/one dollar bills for last minute hailing of cabs).

Look at the Village Voice and Time Out NY for new restaurant and bar openings. There are SO many great places to eat, just depends what you want.

Personally , Soho, Greenwich Village and Tribeca as areas to eat out, shop and and mosey around.

If you want a really lovely, quaint, indulgent afternoon tea location - Lady Mendhl's in Gramercy Square is lovely.

If you like make-up - Sephora!

Very jealous. My fabourite place in the world.

Is china town worth it or is it no different to London?

Love make up! Guess what all my sisters are getting for Christmas Grin

I'm sure it's been said, but dinner at the River Cafe In Brooklyn - tell them it's your honeymoon & get table by window. Views of downtown Manhattan are to die for!

Haggis that looks amazing! Maybe too posh for dp us Blush

If we go to central park one morning where in it should we go and what should we do whilst we're in that area? Looks like Bloomingdales is close, anything else? There's so much to do it's going to be hard to fit it all in!
