Best value restaurants/fussy eater, Disneyland Paris

I have booked DLP for 3 nights on the 24th October staying at the Hotel Santa Fe. We have never been before and my head is spinning reading about all the restaurants etc. We are only bed and breakfast.

My partner is very fussy, ideally a buffet restaurant would be better and we would like to character dine for one night as a special treat. So Disney experts what do you recommend?

Inventions buffet at the disneyland hotel is the best food but is expensive, characters come round throughout the meal though. Cafe Mickey poor food but plenty characters but not a buffet. Most hotels do buffets. Book tables in advance or be prepared to wait up to an hour. Look at the menus online and tripadvisor reviews. Dibs website is good. Half board can work out cheaper.

Thank you Heels, Inventions looks great but very expensive will have to check the budget. I had a look on Trip Advisor and I like the look on Annette's Diner so may try there.

Annette's Diner is one of my favourites, and if we're celebrating birthdays we usually go to Cafe Mickey.

What sort of "fussy"? Is it just 2 adults?

There is a good "filled roll" style place in the train station, Santa Fe is right beside the petrol station which has some sandwiches, snacks etc too and wine. And if you have the time, pop on the train one stop to the Val d'europe shopping centre which has a very good selection of eateries, at much better value than the Disney ones.

Thank you Melanie that is all very helpful.

Very fussy partner and 2 fussy daughters.

I liked the look of the Agrabah Cafe but I don't think the others will enjoy it.

I was thinking of the Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe as well??

Planet Hollywood is pretty good. I'm very fussy and ate there happily last time I went to DLP. The food is basic but it was nice and they were very good at not putting dressings/sauces/etc. on my orders.

HermioneWeasley · 09/10/2014 14:38

The buffet in the sequoia lodge is good - not the same choice as the most expensive ones, but still plenty for fussy eaters.

TBH none of the restaurants are great, but sequoia lodge buffet, rainforest cafe (we spent about 100E for 4 of us) and planet Hollywood are ok. Cafe Mickey is shite.

What does "fussy" mean? There is also a big (and constantly busy) McDonald's and earl of sandwich is decent. We also had a lot of hot dogs from Casey corner.

Coffeeinapapercup · 09/10/2014 14:53

The whole question really can't be answered without asking budget (fast food, mid range top range)and what kind of fussy.

I loooove cafe mickey, whilst the food isn't superb ime it really hasn't been poor. It is great for really getting decent time with the characters and superb photos. Cafe mickey is the main characters mickey Minnie Pluto goofy. However if you are after princess you might want cinderellas castle

Most of the buffets serve very similar food. There will be starters salad, a roasted joint of meat, various potato (love the creamy spinach potato) and veg dishes, usually curry or pasta dish, the usual array of chicken nuggets chips etc puddings (floating islands) and fruit. So the main difference is the environment. I like Plaza gardens but it is busy. Eating with the stars (studios) is awesome for the whole remy thing.. but usually I like dinner in the hotel and I've never tried the santa fe so I can't comment

Rainforest cafe is lovely, and planet Hollywood also has quite an extensive menu.

Avoid Walts Grin

katrina81 · 09/10/2014 15:18

Right budget I dont mind paying around the 100 euros mark for a evening meal, I can increase if needs be.

Fussy well my partner won't eat onions any veg apart from chips or potato. Likes pizza, burger, hotdogs that kind of stuff. He doesn't like pasta - he is a pain in the rear end.

My eldest is similar to him and my youngest at least will eat veg.

Also meant to say thank you all for your suggestions.

Pizza, burger and hotdogs are all readily available. A nice option in Studios is the Cafe Cascadeur, which is in a sort of stainless steel caravan.

Coffeeinapapercup · 09/10/2014 17:07

TBH I would have thought you will be more than ok. The fast food joints all serve either chips burger nuggets, or pizza or both. I would have thought there will be stuff that works at the buffets

When I go to DLP I will usually eat at, Plaza gardens, dining with the stars Sequoia hotel buffet, Café Mickey and Colonel Hathis (pizza fast food) and mcdonalds. And Wild west show, that's a fantastic show. Coffee and cookies from the cookie shop in main street are yum!
I have eaten at and would happily eat again at Walt (Yes please! but that was about 8 years ago) and the blockbuster café (studios) (not my fav because we normally go when it's cold and we need a warm meal). I'll add Blockbuster café sometimes has other draws, we've met mickey and Minnie there unexpectedly and had a band playing on another occasion.
I would like to try Blue Lagoon, if for no other reason than the surroundings, and café agraba, but pretty sure my lot wouldn't like the food.
I wouldn't repeat either of the steakhouses (the one in the village nor the one by phantom manor) or toad hall (shivers with horror). The big fast food joint in the studios park we only do because I don't fancy forking out for Dining with the stars. The Cafe Cascadeur always looks nice food, If we went in summer I would try it but we alwasy go when it is cold and then the tables look very unappealing.

Theres others we've done but I really like the buffets because it caters to everyone's taste. But we tend to play it safe because we know what works for us.

Thanks Coffee lots of good places there, should have booked more than 3 nights lol

OP posts:
Coffeeinapapercup · 09/10/2014 21:03

If you're not dealing with special needs and it's your first visit (so you don't know whether you love it or hate it); 3 nights is perfect. Long enough to get really get a feel of the place

RiojaHaze · 09/10/2014 22:42

Blue Lagoon was fab but lots of fish on the menu which my DC weren't keen on. Atmosphere brilliant though!

Walts I loved but again, DC not keen on the menu, was expensive and not a great environment for little ones IMO.
