hi my DH and I are off for our first holiday as empty nesters :)
Can anyone recommend any bars /restaurants which we could visit at night.
After spending more than 20years pleasing the kids it would be nice to do some grown up things at night GrinGrin
Can anyone recommend anywhere ??

NY is the perfect place to go! Do you have a hotel booked? What kind of food do you like? Are you looking for vibrant places, relaxed or bit of both?

Was there recently and can recommend some places but helpful to get a sense of what you're looking for.

Envious!

hi we are looking for clubs/bars where there is a bit of a buzz /atmosphere
DH is wanting to relive his youth I think as he wants to stay out late eating/drinking. I however struggle to stay awake after the 10oclock news .....interesting times ahead :)
We have a hotel booked which is close to 5th Avenue so we are quite central.
Regarding food we will give most things a try but def no high chairs or soft play areasGrinGrin

Hopefully you won't be too wrecked by the jet lag, otherwise you might be on completely different schedules! One of my NY based colleagues recommended the roof top bar at the Hudson Hotel, we had drinks there one night, great views of the city and Central Park, music was great and they had loungers. What time of year are you going? If it's not too cold, some other roof top bars are at the Gansevoort (one on Park Ave and one in Meat Packing district) and The Standard (Meat Packing District too), probably best to reserve in advance if you fancy trying those out. They'll also have lively restaurants/bars/clubs.

This place is within walking distance from the Hudson Hotel rooftop bar, good for dinner:

Loved this place for breakfast

Got to run but will let you know if anything else comes to mind and others might be able to chip in too, have a fab time!

Cielo in the Meatpacking District is a great little club - good music and not at all pretentious

What a wonderful situation to be in and a great way to enjoy the perks of your children having flown the nest. If my parents had had the same attitude and were partying in NY when I left home, I'd have wanted to join them! As it happens, years down the line, my parents (mum) in particular loves to party/travel and my siblings and I love joining forces with her and my dad when he can be persuaded (he's more of a home bird).

Would love to have that with my children one day. Am sure your children will find what you're doing very inspiring and you're reaping the rewards of having started your family relatively young! Have a fab time!
