Some questions about taking a baby on holiday

I may be mad but am thinking of going on holiday when my DS will be 4 months old.

Hopefully I'll still be ebf at that point so won't need to worry about food/milk for him. (But any advice in this department would be helpful in case he's on formula for some reason or if he's started weaning early)

Some specific questions I have:

Does the luggage allowance usually include a bag for baby?
Does the pram get checked in?
And if so does that mean I have to carry DS after check in or does it go on after security?
Does the pram count towards luggage allowance?
On the coach transfer does DS sit on my knee or do I need to take car seat?
When including DS on booking will hotel automatically put a cot in the room or do I have to request one?

I know that the holiday company should be able to answer these but I'm not booking just yet, just wanted to ask about other peoples experiences.

Any other advice also appreciated. I'm sure I'll have more questions...

Thanks.

And this

Both are bigger and that's why I was interested originally.

But the p&t matress sounds amazing.

The measurements say 81cm x44 ft nest, and 76x28 for Moses basket on John Lewis

eminybob don't forget about a passport for your DS. If you are planning on travelling when he is 4 months old you will need to apply for his passport relatively soon after the birth. Have I understood correctly that you are still pregnant?

Get organised before the birth and make sure you have all the original documents you need while you have time to get replacements if necessary. Decide how you will take the photo and who will sign the photos for you. Then the actual application should be relatively quick if you know what you need to do.

W have just returned from taking 2 month old DD on holiday. I had a travel cot provided by the hotel but took a pop up travel cot with us and put it in the hotel cot so that it was off the floor and a bit softer than being directly on a tiled floor. Our pop-up cot is similar to this:

Foxtrot he's 8 weeks old. I have already got his passport, I made sure that I had it back before booking anything. Believe it or not it only took a week! And mine was done at the same time as it had expired.
Having the photo done for DS was a nightmare, we went to a professional but he was either crying or squirming about. Got there in the end though!

Oh and we have booked now. Lanzarote for a week in November.

I emailed Thomson to ask about the cot and they said that as an infant is on the booking a cot is automatically requested, but to email again a couple of weeks before we go so they can just confirm with the hotel. It's one of those big clubhotel Riu places so I'd be surprised if they weren't able to provide one.

I'm very excited now!

Def check re travel cot. Ie hotel might have say 20 travel cots so 20 bookings with under 2 will automatically added. What Thomson etc don't consider is if family with over 2, say 2/3 years turn up and ask for travel cot first they will get on first come first serve basis.
So there's now only say 15 cots left for 20 bookings as 5 have already been used. Won't know until check in as someone already there could request one 5 mins before you arrive

It's not overly hot in lanzerote in November so regular sleep suits prob needed for baby, with just vest if warmer a few hours. Wouldn't bother taking actual summer clothes for baby really

We had a week in lanzarote when dd was one. It was great; not too hot and very family friendly.

we got a transfer from the airport to the hotel and just let them know that we needed a car seat for dd. On the way out they remembered but on the way back they forgot so dd had to sit on my lap. We also hired a car for a couple of days and car seats were provided.
