Anyone been caught 'smuggling' third child?

We're thinking of going to London for 2 nights at half term and staying at a budget hotel. It doesn't allow for 3 children and 2 adults so we're thinking the youngest (3years) can just sleep between us. I know it's cheeky but we'll save over £100. Has anyone been caught doing this? What happened? WHat would you do?

Lucyclaudeclaude, I read that as you just realised that your two DCs are twins! Grin

I'd book the cot to be on the safe side.

We went to a wedding recently and booked a family room for DH, me and our two youngest and my parents booked one for them and our two oldest at a Premier Inn.
We arrived first and checked in for our room they didn't bat an eyelid that there was two adults and four children apparently all staying in one room.

Travelodge don't care at all - we rock up with 3 kids (6, 9 and 12), a self-inflating mattress & a sleeping bag. They say "ooh would you like some extra pillows?".

You'll get your reward by having the crappiest night's sleep for a while, those beds aren't the biggest, or comfiest!

StarlightMcKenzie · 03/09/2014 11:37

How is it theiving? Most receptionists have just told me they can't provide another bed but don't mind how many kids in the ones there are.

A very few have told us to book another room but upon having no other rooms available allowed it.

Surely the hotel only lose money if you would otherwise get an extra room? I think 'fraud' is a slightly hysterical word to apply to this situation. It is better for stress levels to be upfront about the numbers in your room but if you are and the hotel is unhelpful...

We have three children and have just asked for a cot in previous years when seeking a room for 5 or a cottage that sleeps 4 but can accommodate a little one. now the youngest is soon to be 6 we may have to do more booking on the phone and bargaining for a suitable room/s. I think smaller hotels and B&B's are likely to be more flexible than chains. But really if you don't mind squeezing in one room for the night why should the hotel mind!?

Interesting that Centreparcs were so inflexible though judging by their pricing they like to ensure they squeeze max profit from every family. But you should have complained about that telephone conversation pastperfect as the man was both offensive and wrong!

Pastperfect · 03/09/2014 14:28

Fraud??? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

bigmouth I complained twice in writing. Once to customer services and once to the head office. Didn't receive so much as an acknowledgement Angry

I have identical quads and often book just one room and sneak one DC in at a time for a two hour sleep whilst the other three stay in the car. Can't see what the problem is if it saves me 100.

Cereal0ffender · 03/09/2014 19:45

Arf at quads

Customer service at its best Grin

Hi clash city, yep, can see why! OMG am losing my literary/grammar marbles too, on top of most other academic ability. Hope it returns soon! In the days BC (as my dh calls it) I was actually a relatively bright person. See your point tho!
