Where can I go at half term which will be cheap and warm?

Have found some fairly cheap flights to Barcelona but temps expected to be between 14-18degrees. If I go to Barcelona I want it to be warmer than that. Plus I have been before, so would like something different.

Rome, similar temps but at least I've not been before. But can't find cheap flights.

Flights to the canaries are all expensive.

Don't want to go to Egypt, morocco with how things are and would be a bit worried about turkey.

Part of me thinks if its going to be 15degrees in Rome or Barcelona I might as well just embrace the cold and do a city break somewhere like Krakow or Gothenburg. Save the warm destinations for when it will be warm.

Me and 13yo dd.

Crete?

Bit about the weather here

Other than the Canaries? Morocco, Egypt or Cyprus. Poss turkey.

There are never any cheap flights to warm places at October or feb half terms. Grrrr

VivaLeBeaver · 01/09/2014 09:18

Crete or Cyprus would be nice.

Does stuff not shut down in Sept in Greece? I think I read that once, someone went in oct and most of the bars and cafes were shut?

Malta. It's lovely. The sea will and air will be 24, perfect for sunbathing and swimming. Foods not great but packages are cheap- try and get as all in as possible.

We went to Malta a few years ago in Oct half term, was not sunbathing weather. Great island though

September is fine in Greece, everything open and still warm. Stuff does shut down in October and the end of Oct half term is too late for serious beach stuff. The holiday companies still sell it of course.

Lisbon is fabulous and reasonable.

Should be warm but not for sunbathing.

I think that Canaries really will be best choice if you are wanting a warm weather holiday with everything still open.

We always used to go in thr feb half term and it was thr only place we could go for the week that would be warm (ish)

Yoy could probably offset the pricier flight costs by finding a cheap apartment ?

Morocco is fine, really. We went in March. No whispers of extremism as far as I know- I think the new King has done a fairly good job of gradual reform, so there isn't too much social tension (at least on the surface). Not all Islamic countries are the same!

Plus, it's pretty cheap, friendly, with amazing culture, landscape and architecture. We're planning to go again, for longer, and take DS this time Smile.

PS- it was about 27 degrees C in Marrakesh in early March..

I'm always on the search for sunshine whatever time of year. Last year we went to Murcia for October half term and the av. temp. was about 23/24 degrees. We swam in the pool and sea and lay in the sun however it wasn't too warm to do some city sights too. This year I am thinking of heading further south and flying to Malaga and heading along that coast somewhere.

The aim is for warmth and cheep flights (already been to Greece and France this year and DH thinks I'm mad to start looking for another holiday!)

Why are you worried about Turkey? We have just come back and we had an amazing time as usual. It is lovely there in October, especially if you go to Antalya, the other resorts aren't as warm but the Antalya region is usually mid 20s.
