Thomas Cook flights

I've booked Thomas Cook flights to Corfu next year , great flight times and good price... I usually use Monarch but they were night flights and more expensive ( they went up in price overnight!)
I then made the mistake of reading reviews about TC airlines and am having a mild panic! Please can someone reassure me it will be ok? We used them in 2009 and they were fine. I don't expect more than a bus service and will play be the rules!
Any thoughts please...

What do the reviews say? How bad can it be its a flight. You get on you sit there you get off.

Delays, cramped seats, people not recommending them ... The flights we've chosen go at 7am so it's not going to be a huge night time delay if it happens . I plan to feed the kids before and we should be there in time for lunch! Have booked seats to avoid seating issues. We've travelled with Iberia who I thought had very little leg room, and although v uncomfortable I'd still use them again if it's the best price . I'm not expecting luxury , so hopefully it will be ok!

Delays can happen with any airline and as for cramped seats that's pretty much par for the course for most airlines especially for cheap shorthaul flights. You will be fine don't worry about it.

I'd pack some snacks for lunch just in case of delays though. It might not be with the flight, it could be getting you luggage, or hire car / transfer etc. things are always less stressful without hungry dc!

I think I know the kind of review sites you have been reading. Passengers seem really ready to complain but seldom take time to write positive feedback. Thomas cook are currently updating their fleet and making many changes which should have a positive impact on your travel. Corfu is a shortish flight time . Have a great time.

We flew with them earlier this year. No problems really. Similar flight time and we did the Twilight Check-In night before so didn't have to get up so early on the day. Went straight through security when we got there.

The only problem we had was that we'd ordered food and on the return flight they claimed we had ordered 4 adult meals instead of 2+2 and tried to serve our children a spicy curry which they wouldn't have eaten. Luckily there were a couple of spare children's meals.

Other than that, it was pretty much as expected. Not that comfortable but no different to any other charter airline. No delays.

Thanks all!

Flew with them yesterday, perfectly good charter flight, flights actually took off early both going out and returning.
DH did find it cramped though, and he's not especially tall. I'd fly with them again for the right price

specialsubject · 17/08/2014 13:38

all these airlines are monitored and safe to fly.

it will be cramped. The food will be awful. The staff may not be the happiest. There are no spare planes and if one has a fault there will be delays; better than flying with a broken plane!

you'll be fine.

We flew with Thomas Cook this year and last year, both flights were fine, there was not a lot of leg room but the plane was clean and the staff were friendly. We had a 30 minute delay last year but otherwise they were on time.

We, DH, DS2 and DGD and DGS are flying with them to Mexico tomorrow and I am dreading it. From what I can tell they are even worse than Thomson/First Choice. However no other company uses the hotel where I wish to stay.

They seem all out to extract every last penny from you. We usually go for at least premium economy on a charter flight enjoying included drinks etc. T Cook make you pay for drinks even if you upgrade so I did not bother. They also charge £5 per bag for 'night before' checkin /bag drop. WTF?

Finally there is a compulsory exit tax from Mexico, included in scheduled flights but not in charters ( a ploy to make holidays look cheaper than they actually are). T Cook want 900 pesos per person, ( about £50), Thomson 855 , about £43. Total rip off merchants.

I think I've got my head round it ( bit like when we went with Ryanair) expect nothing and play by the rules and I may be pleasantly surprised. It's a means to an end!
