Please help me!!! Best places for families in Majorca

I've been going round in circles! I want to go next July for a week with DD (16 - asperger's, so not into regular 'teen' things at all) and DS (6).

I would like a hotel with a good-sized pool that won't be too crowded (wishful thinking in high season perhaps), near to a sandy beach and able to walk out. It would be nice to have some kids-club type activities/entertainment for DS, although to do together.

I would love a villa, but I am too much of a wuss to drive!!!

Also, I can't afford vast ££££.

Not worried about board particularly - I am open to advice on that.

The final thing is I would prefer to be away from raging nightlife. A quieter, family based resort would be better.

I had looked at Cala D'Or, but I'm worried the beaches might be quite crowded (DD would not be happy).

I'm also happy to consider other destinations in Spain/Greece/islands - doesn't have to be majorca, but I can fly locally to there so definitely easier.

To be clear, definitely during school holidays, so height of busy!

I'm not sure about specific hotels but Port De Pollensa in Majorca is lovely.

It's in a bay, the beach is sandy and stretches over quite a distance. The sea is great for snorkeling if this would appeal to your 16yo?

The area around the main bit of town near the port/harbour can get quite busy but if you head towards the edge of town (south) the beaches are quieter or used more by people doing water sports like kite surfing, windsurfing etc.

Puerto Pollensa definitely. And you wouldn't need to hire a car even if you hire a villa. Many villa sites will let you search for properties where a hire car is not needed. When we stayed at PP last year we just booked a transfer from the airport. It has a long sandy beach and a lovely town- perfect for families, not rowdy etc etc.

oh, and I meant to add that any "nightlife" that we could hear from nearby hotels finished at 11pm and tended to be something like a covers band or a bit of dodgy karaoke! (but even that wasn't every night)

Another vote for Puerto Pollensa!

We have stayed in the Puerto Azul hotel, we went last May and have booked again for next May. It's on a quiet street, but only a few minutes to walk to the beach. There is a kids club, but it's quite informal (run by the hotel itself, not a UK tour operator, and although you can leave the children there unsupervised they can actually leave at any point if they want to so you have to stay in the hotel). If you were to ask for a room in block B or C not overlooking the pool you'd get a nice quiet room with a view of the mountains. A ground floor one would be nice because then you have a small terrace overlooking gardens. The rooms are nice, they have been refurbished since we were there last year, and you get a living room with a separate bedroom.

I also think the pool area would be good for your 16 year old. There are no slides etc, and the main pool is very deep, so really you only get adults in there - it's too deep for non-swimmers and too deep for an adult to be able to stand up and supervise a child with arm bands on. We were there in May, it was the school holidays so I guess it was more-or-less as busy as it would be in the summer holidays, and the children were sticking to the two smaller, shallower pools and not going in the big pool at all.

It's very much a resort where the typical visitor is a family with young children and the grandparents in tow as well! There are no nightclubs, and no single-sex groups or teenagers on their first holiday away from home. It's lovey!

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate them. I'm going to have a look at it now.
