Portsmouth to St Malo night crossing no cabin!

I know, I know we should have got a cabin but last minute booking meant none available and we've just got seats! We have 2 DDs age 11 & 8. Do we need to bring our own blankets/pillows or do the ferry provide anything? Thankfully only a short drive the other end!

It's Ok - found the info finally! For future ref - Nothing supplied but packs can be purchased on board - pillow, blanket, eye mask, ear plugs £4.60!!

I think I've seen those packs. Both pillows and blankets looked pretty thin. Which should be OK for the blanket (as the ferries aren't cold) but not so good for the pillow.

I've had a cabin on that crossing, and uncomfortable would be a polite way to describe it. You're not much worse off being in a seat, so don't feel you've missed out on much.

I think that overnight pack sounds pretty good value. If you need more cushioning than the pillow provided, roll up a sweater if you weren't taking pillows with you otherwise.

I did that crossing a few weeks ago and had no cabin, only a recliner. However we went straight to the Information Desk on boarding and put our names on the list for a standby cabin. Luckily we were allocated one within 2 hours! It was small and had narrow bunks but we slept pretty well and liked the fact we had a shower room to use before disembarking.

If you have a car and have room for a few blankets and pillows then put them in. At least then if you don't get a cabin you have the option of some covers and a pillow.

The recliners aren't fabulously comfortable so yes take own pillow and fleecy blankets if you can.
Lots of people end up sleeping on the floor so think about taking a roll mat if you can. If seats aren't allocated get to the lounge ASAP and bag seats.

Did a similar crossing recently and most people in chairs bought their own pillow up from the car deck- nothing like your own pillow to help rest I think. People also used loos for quick freshen up/teeth.
