Fred Olsen or P&O?

I've cruised with Royal Caribbean which was fab - does anyone know how Fred Olsen or P&O would compare? It'll be me & DS(9).

Hi Grockle, we went on a Royal Caribbean cruise last summer and will be going with P&O next year, so I can't really help too much at the moment but I have noticed that P&O are quite a bit cheaper. Not just the cost of the cruise itself, but also drinks (plus you don't have to pay the extra 15% on top of the actual price), shuttle buses (free unless you've booked an Early Saver fare), gratuities (£3.95 per day, but under 12s don't have to pay), etc.

The other advantages for us are that there are washing machines and dryers on board that you can use free of charge (we'll be flying to the UK before our cruise, so our luggage will be limited), a fridge in our cabin, and the fact that you can (within reason) take an unlimited amount of alcohol onto the ship. We cruised with p and o in may and it was great.

Are Fred Olsen cruises family friendly?

P&O sound promising then, thank you!

Agree with everything Linzer says. Just back from Royal Caribeean cruise and although we enjoyed ourselves their attempts to extract money from us at every turn were annoying - bottled water ($3 for a small bottle) and wine (cheapest $10 per glass + service), no laundrette onboard, pricey transfers into town centres from the ports - all compared unfavourably with P&O.

I did enjoy RC's mix of ages and cultures - P&O was mainly older white Brits, although they were a lovely crowd out to enjoy themselves.
