Longleat - how to plan our visit

Having found out Legoland was closed when we wanted to go this coming week, we are now going on Tesco deals to Longleat instead! Looks like loads to do there - dd is nearly 3 - what would be the best plan of action - what will she get most out of?

There is loads to do. We couldn't fit it all in.. The safari park is great - DS1 is 2.4 and he loved the animals - but beware the monkeys eating parts of your car...

He also liked the train that goes round the lake and there's a petting zoo type thing where you can stroke rabbits. There's a boat ride too, but we didn't have time. The butterfly house was useless though! We didn't get time to go in the adventure playground bit, and I think DS1 was a bit small for it anyway.

It is a great day out, enjoy yourselves.

we liked the butterflies, even if it was small.

theres so much to do wouldn't bother with the house this time - your ticket will be valid for a year from purchase so you should be able to go back and finish the rest off.

longest queues are the safari and the boat ride.

loved the maze and dd1 loved the model Greendale Village.

if you are travelling down - would suggest a travelodge room overnight so you can do everything over two days.

Thanks for that guys. And we have booked into a hotel called The Full Moon thats not far away (and has a pool!) so we probably will go back the 2nd day.

We have got 2 days out of our Longleat passport thingies, so it's quite good value. (We are lucky as we live nearby)

Watch the monkeys though, they wrecked my old car!

If you are buying a passport ticket bear in mind it is not valid for a year from the date of purchase but only until the end of that season. Better if you buy a passport ticket in say March and then you have quite a few months to make your return. Bought a passport ticket on Saturday and it only lasts until November 5th 2006 as this is when the majority of attractions close this season (although you could still see the house until 31/12/06). Liked the safari Park and train. Found the house a bit of a liability with DS (2) as he kept trying to grab hold of antiques etc !
