Where to stay in Paris - a ladies guide required

I'm in the lucky position that I'm meeting friends in Paris this November for a few days. Can anyone recommend a central hotel that would be affordable for five nights? About £100 a head (per night, that is, I'm not entirely deluded). It would need to be single rooms, as half of the group are coming from Australia and will be jetlagged. Or apartments? I've had a look on Airbnb, and there are some lovely ones, but the paying upfront is offputting. I'd rather pay a deposit then settle up later.

Any experiences welcomed. We are four fairly fancy fortysomethings (alliteration!), not backpackers.

I was going to suggest the Hotel Crayon near the Palais Royale but might be too expensive.

Try Venere.com for hotel ideas, you don't pay any thing up front, pay the hotel at the end of the trip.

Actually, single rooms are likely to be a problem and will take the price up pretty high. Have a look at the offers that Mr and Mrs Smith have. I would rather share and stay somewhere lovely than cheap and cheerful for £100 a night in a single room. £200 for a double room gets you something far, far better in great locations.

I know, MillyMollyMama. I'd rather share in a fancier place. I'm going with the consensus though. I've got my eye on a gorgeous flat in the Marais at the moment. It would work out at about £125 a head a night.
Allalonenow, thanks, venere isn't one I usually use. I'll check it out.

I think finding a flat or a B and B is a good idea. The Marais is good for restaurants and is quite lively. Has Trip Advisor got any highly rated recommendations for apartments? It might broaden the search.
