Is it worth paying £200 more to fly to NZ with Emirates?

I'm about to book some long haul flights to New Zealand and I've been offered flights with Emirates. Only thing is, they're £200 more than flying with another airline (I'd tell you which one but it might bias your response!).

I was just wondering, since the flight is so long, whether it is worth paying extra to fly Emirates, or are they pretty much the same as any other carrier?

TIA

I fly with Emirates quite a lot and they are okay. Not great, but what airline is?

I always bring food on board and it is never an issue. Have always received help with DD when travelling alone even when I haven't asked.

For me a real plus is the 30kg luggage allowence. The A380 planes are quit comfy but I've also flown on some of their older planes and they weren't as comfy.

I have flown between the UK and NZ more times than I care to think about.

I have flown most airlines that do that route more than once - I have had good flights and crap flights on every single airline.

One flight on Cathay was Soooooo bad I looked at buying a one way ticket back here on another airline, but at short notice it was too expensive so decided to just deal with it - the flight back was completely and utterly different to the flight over, you'd never have known it was the same airline.

Frankly, they're all so inconsistent that you might as well go for the shortest flight times, the least transit time, the best inflight entertainment or the cheapest flight - whatever is most important to you.

Once I got a cheap flight which went through Seoul with a scheduled night stop over (price included in the flight), transfers to and from a nice hotel, lovely room, massive comfy beds... brilliant :)

I wouldn't hesitate to fly with Malaysian airlines again.

Thanks so much for all your responses. They've really put my mind at ease! The flight time is actually slightly quicker with Malaysian, and both flights have a similar-length stopover in the middle, so I think I'll go for MH and save myself the extra cash.

I'll just have to make sure I've got plenty of in-flight entertainment!
