Bayeux to Paris by train - is there parking at Bayeux station?

We are going to Normandy next week and have to decided to go to Paris for a day trip. Having got freaked driving in Paris once, dp is refusing to do it again so train seems to be the best option. I've checked the map and Bayeux station is the nearest to where we are staying so we are going to drive to the station and I'm wondering if it's obvious where we can park. Has the station got parking for non-commuters and how do you pay?

Also the Paris station is St. Lazare. Is there obvious bus or underground links to the Eiffel Tower area?
We get very nervy in a country where English isn't the first language (pathetic I know) and like to plan everything in advance down to the smallest detail!

it seems you should get the no 32 bus to Champ de Mars and a quick look at google street view suggests you might be able to park on-street for free at Bayeux.

I believe you would be better booking tickets for the Eiffel tower in advance if that's where you're going - the queues can be very long...

Ooh thanks for the info! That website is excellent, I've bookmarked it so I can find it again when we're there. Never thought about booking in advance for the Eiffel Tower either, glad I posted.

Have you checked when the trains go, and how much it costs? sncf - trajets directs means direct trains, note that direct trains always seem to be cheaper, presumably because the route is shorter. And you pay for two singles, rather than one return iyswim. trains there next tuesday (not sure link will work...) and trains back. French trains are cheaper if you book them in advance, although you are normally restricted to a specific train time, like advance tickets in the UK.

Gah, links haven't worked at all... Click the first one, then click on horaires et reservation and put your journey details in.

Thanks, have been on there and am now wondering if I should buy them. I looked last week and they've gone up since then. Although I'm not sure which day anyway. Decisions decisions!
