I need to get a new double buggy. My old one is heavy, wide and clumsy and if I have to use it again I will throw a trantrum. Does anyone have one they can recommend?
Something. light, narrow and easy to steer. Or just one that they have found really easy to use?
Thanks

you just repair punctures with repair kits, dont need spare tyres. it is a pain in the a*se if u get one whyen out and about, ut not that bad to steer with a puncture.

i have the phil and teds kiwi explorer, i did have the e3, but sold it. i use to kiwi to transport dd3 who weighs in at 22lb and dh spare heart machine which weighs around 23-25lb(depends on how many spare batteries i am carrying as well). its going strong, even though the previous owners have had it welded at some point. the main seat sits slightly higher, and the back seat is higher than the wheels compared to the e3. i'd be happier using the kiwi for 2 toddlers than the e3.

I have the Jane Powertwin for my two = DD19mths and DS 3mths - its great! Easier to steer than my single and fits just about everywhere. Bought on ebay new, and fully intend to sell it on when finished with it. HTH

another vote for phil and teds E3

i swear it is less effort to push 2 children (whose combined weight more than 30kg) than my 1 year old god daughter in her maclaren style motehr own brand umbreall folding buggy... and less effort than just 1 child in the M&P buggy as well!

Same questions for me too really, I've got my eye on the Maclaren Twin Techno, any advice on this one please, I like the thought of the handles so I can put my shopping somewhere, I will have one 2 year old and one newborn, will have to have a c section again so light weight and easy to steer is very important. Have a single techno at the mo and not had any problems.

TheBlonde · 17/12/2006 23:26

Charlie - I suggest you take your toddler to a shop and stick him in the maclaren dbl buggy

I don't think they are that easy to steer with lots of weight on one side but I do see lots of them

I tried a few in MCare this morning. We are going for the P&T as side by sides are too big for our hallway

Charlieslittleangel · 18/12/2006 14:29

good advice thank you, will take him to mothercare for a play!!

i find maclaren doubles a nightmare to push if not on a super flat (it pavements / shopping centre) ground surface

even harder when the children are different sizes.... ind macleren double seats are not very big.... so not that practical for bigger / older children either tbh!

Charlieslittleangel · 23/12/2006 12:38

Now I really don't know what to do. My toddler will be about 2 and will have one newborn have to have another c section so the easiest to push the better!! oh dear

Get thee to John Lewis/Mothercare and give a few a go

I have a Graco single buggy and everyone says it is a dream to push, even if a bit old fashioned in style. I have tried loads of twin pushchairs and the Graco, to me, feels the best to push. However if you do lots of rough terrain/muddy paths etc you might be better off with a 3-wheeler. Also, I live in a village and I need a double pushchair that is narrow and don't want a tandem as they are a nightmare to push up hills and I live at the top of one.

I have heavy children and found most just dont suit
I am after a powertwin but currently use a Mothercare Hoxton which is great. My 40lber can even sit in the front. It has suspension and pneumatic tyres

Phil & teds is Ok but second child has limited views and my 19m old wouldnt get in. Also the handle gets damaged easily

So for everyday use I would say jane powertwin and a hoxton for occasional use or leaving in the car (we use ours for holidays and leave it in our car) - has a carry handle so rgeat for travel

I have a first wheels city twin and love it.

BuffysMum · 31/12/2006 16:57

tried everything when my middle 2 were little and ended up with a phil & ted kiwi explorer and I loved it. Close 2nd was a side by side 3 wheeler XTS with the town twista wheel. Am going to sell on my kiwi explorer very soon I too think it has some advantages over the e3.

My eldest will be 2 years 5 months when i will have a newborn in my eyes a double buggy would probably make things alot easier can anyone offer any advise on whether a double buggy would be needed or a buggy board would be sufficient?

hi shazza

my eldest will be 2 years 5 months when my newborn is here and people have said different things about double buggys. i am getting a second hand double mountain urban which which hopefully hold some of it's value so in the long run won't cost me as mush as it seems.

hope this helps.
