Ferry to Ireland

I hadn't realised it was that expensive! Shock

I can't fly for 6 weeks and am too tired to drive far so have decided on either Wales or East Ireland for a holiday.
DCs fancy Ireland but the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin will cost more than the cottage.

Is there any way I can make this cheaper, apart from swimming across?

Use Tesco Clubcard vouchers? You can normally get discounts earlier in the season for summer travel but I'm afraid all that is probably finished now.

Try sail rail? It's usually a good price from any english station to any irish station and includes the ferry.

Try booking through Irish Ferries holidays, they offer an all in price for ferry and accommodation. It's usually the cheapest way.

Or try a different crossing, is birkenhead to belfast any cheaper? The overnight one won't be, but the daytime one might.

Or reyhink you're holiday and go to the pas de calais - crossing the channel is much, much cheaper than crossing the irish sea.

I can't tell from your op whether or not you've already booked your accommodation...
