France! I love France and haven't been for ages - also looking forward to introducing kids to France.

Time to just play with the kids when we don't have a million other things we are also trying to get done at the same time

But also (hopefully) the kids making friends they go off with, leaving the grown-ups to sit on the terrace and read and drink

Shopping in markets and cooking with lovely ingredients without any time pressure

Drinking lots of wine

Reading at least 10 books

Sleeping lots.

Exactly the same as you...to the letter. Grin
Dare I ask where in France you are going?

Lovage · 16/07/2014 13:18

Poitou-Charentes - a bit middle of nowhere but nearest town is Chef-Boutonne. Staying in a gite complex with four other gites, pool and enormous garden with trampoline and loads of kids toys. It'll be our first proper holiday since DS1 was a baby, so looking forward to it ridiculously much! Only 9 more sleeps til we go!

How about you?

Looks lovely!
We are going to Castelnaud La Chappelle so about 200km south, in 10 sleeps.

Completely new area of France for us, looking forward to it so much!

watching the dcs have a great time, in the sea, waterparks etc.
we let ds 14 pick this holiday (Salou) as we don't know how much longer he'll be wanting to holiday with us.
He's nearly 15 and already goes with cadets for a week and several weekends per year.
Also leaving the dcs to have fun with the new friends they usually make so me and dh can go off on our own for a bit.

We have a mobile home in the Poitou-Charentes area. Love it, it's very French. We're not going this year as going to America to see family and are really going to miss it.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/07/2014 13:40

Salou here too, we're staying in Portaventura and leaving on DS1' birthday.

Looking forward to the flight, it's the first time for the kids and I am excited to see how much DS1 will love it, he will only be 3 and is really looking forward to it.

They both love Sesame Street, so I can't wait to see their faces when they get to see Elmo in front of them!

Not having to cook, having a drink on the balcony on a nice Spanish night.

Can't wait!

We're going to Morocco with teenagers - first time there so looking forward to seeing a new country and travelling around a bit. It's our only family holiday this year as things have been so busy so looking forward to having time for us to be together. Also sightseeing, travelling, eating out, photography and shopping. It's going to be a packed itinerary!

ChickenFajitaAndNachos · 16/07/2014 16:46

The food and cocktails.
Visiting Istanbul and not making a single bed for 2 weeks.

Carol1379 · 17/07/2014 14:38

A couple of nights in hotel and peppa pig world, daughters birthday and then camping at Sandy Balls. Don't have expensive summer hols as our main holiday is Skiing, all booked for Easter Saturday 2015 !! Would be lovely if the weather stayed hot for the whole 6 weeks !! (asking too much maybe !!)

:) :)

iwantgin · 17/07/2014 15:09

Charente for me too.

Our DC are older teens now - so tend to go and do their own thing.

I am most looking forward to laying in the sun, reading a trashy novel or two and some nice chilled white. Also love the shopping - even in the supermarket :)

Tansie · 17/07/2014 16:46

Wall to wall sunshine. Pretty much guaranteed.

The pool to leap into when the 34 degrees get too much.

Findiing supermarket shopping interesting in a foreign country.

Cheap wine.

Forrin kulcha. I love an old church, castle, mosque, me!

noramum · 17/07/2014 21:05

No running to work after dropping DD off at school. No packed lunches to organise. No packing for kids clubs each day. No searching for lost hats, cardigans etc, no juggling 3 diaries and not forgetting half of it.

We are off to Germany! Lake Constance In 3 weeks. We are Germans so it is default German speaking time for DD. We stay at a farm where outbuildings are converted to holiday flat, lots of playmates, pool and toys for DD. We will also see friends who live around the area and we haven't seen in9 years.

dreamingofsun · 18/07/2014 08:55

no work. I'm exhausted

Lovage · 18/07/2014 09:23

iwantgin and tansie - me too, I love shopping in foreign supermarkets. Even now when so many of the things are multinational. But there's always things that are different. I have a special shopping list I've been keeping of things to bring home (tinned chestnuts, puy lentils in tins with nice herbs and stuff, Le Petit Marseillais shower gel etc.)

And yes, dreamingofsun no work is high on my list too. So, so tired of working so hard for so long. No email! No deadlines! No colleagues to manage (do have to manage the kids a bit, but it's not the same)
