Our holiday this year wasn't great but mainly down to DH believing you can still have a fantastic holiday for £250 per person as he did 25 years ago as a teenager!

So now he's been through a not so great holiday we've got a healthier budget for next year but I'd rather book sooner so what we want is:

Good hotel
Lovely rooms with comfortable beds
Good food on offer for at least breakfast - can be AI or half board but must be at least B&B
Good kids club activities
Not overrun but Brits abroad drinking lager in their football tops with their breakfast which we have just encountered.
Open to suggestions for destination

Mark Warner a bit too expensive plus we wouldn't do all of those activities - DH likes a gym, I like a spa but nice clean pools to relax by are preferred. Kids club is a must.

Thanks for any recommendations you can give.

First choice holiday village?

Hersetta427 · 15/07/2014 14:15

Holiday village rhodes, or perhaps a club med or senetori hotel.

Crutchlow35 · 15/07/2014 15:42

Sensatori - I have been looking at that today so it is a possibility. Will look at club med.

HOliday village is probably a no as we did Tenerife a year or so ago and it was just to full of people, no space and no peace and quiet.

Have you thought about looking at something a bit more interesting? Families Worldwide or Family Adventure Company have interesting trips where your children would be with other children. I don't know what your budget is, but cheap and cheerful is not for me. Somewhere a bit more stimulating makes for a great holiday though.

ChickenFajitaAndNachos · 15/07/2014 16:21

Crutchlow would you consider a cruise? They offer everything on your list.

Crutchlow35 · 15/07/2014 18:34

Thanks both. I love cruises but DH not as much. I think if I found a good one though it might work.

Will look at those mentioned milly. Thanks.

Ah that is useful to know re holiday villages. I haven't ever been toone but it seemed to fit the bill.

Hersetta427 · 16/07/2014 14:13

They are very good for families with small kids. We have been to the ones in Kos, Egypt and Tunisia (all excellent) and turkey (but we wouldn't go back to that one. Rhodes is the flagship one, it has deluxe areas for the use of deluxe guests and lovely swim up rooms but comes with a heavty price tag.

Don't get me wrong HV are good, particularly for the children but DH and i would just like a quiet corner for some peace when DS is doing his activities. My impression of HV is that it is difficult to do!

That is true...family holidays and peace and quiet rarely go hand in hand. The closest we get is to put DD in evening kids club, have a quiet dinner together in one of the al a cartes and then a couple of drinks in the adult only bar. it seems un-naturally quiet!!
