April - family friendly beaches and culture in Andalusia?

Oh wise ones please help! We are a family of 5 looking to get away together for the first time at Easter (the children will be 7,4,1 by then). We don't have a massive budget (c2k all in) but want to go somewhere warmer than here (not necessarily hot hot) where we can spend time outdoors, ideally with a low risk of rain. Does Andalusia fit the bill? I've always wanted to go to Granada so would be looking for somewhere close enough to visit there and the coast for beaches. Does anyone know where to start looking? TIA

I went to Granada in late May once and it was really really hot (too hot for me although I am a wimp about heat), but apparently the week before it had been very cold and rained torrents, so I'm not sure you would get reliably warm weather in April. But Granada was amazing and I would highly recommend it. Seville too.

Nerja should tick all your boxes and self catering accommodation is really reasonable. I have been to Granada for Easter and the weather was lovely.

Andalucia is lovely in the Spring – mild weather, wildflowers.... Another fantastic city to visit is Cordoba which is lovely at Easter. Our kids were fascinated by the amazing Mezquita which I think rivals the Alhambra as a historic site.
Nerja is definitely good if you want to be by the beach. For a really great experience drive along the coast to the (very Spanish) old fisherman’s quarter of El Palo just east of Malaga and have lunch at the famous El Tintero restaurant on the seafront. Waiters bring out plates of amazing fresh fish and seafood, calling out the names of the dishes, and you signal them to bring what you want as they pass by. It’s great fun (kids love it!) and you can relax on the beach afterwards.
Also try to catch one of the Easter processions – they are interesting and quite moving as well.
