Swimming hats/caps in Italian swimming pools? Really?

Our holiday info (eurocamp) for our campsite in northern italy says swimming caps need to be worn. Does anyone know if this is true?

DH has virtually no hair on his head (balding with 'no.2' shaved hair), but is hirsute of body! It seems bonkers for him to need to wear a swim cap when there is actually about 10 times more hair on his body than on his head Grin .

I also don't fancy sunbathing by the pool weather a rubber hat!!!!

Hmm, inconclusive, although it did state that swimming cups Hmm were not mandatory!
Tried to check out some photos, but most were of nubile teenagers in skimpy bikinis. There was one boy of around 11 in board shorts so possibly means OK.
I'm tempted to go with the idea that if there was a rule, it would say so??????

I purchzßd the hats for all three of us at the campsite shop, they were comfortable cloth hats and I stuck a large sun hat over the top. I wanted a brimed hat to keep the sun of my face, so didn't look a complete plonker but that wzdnt the reason.

I just kept it all on whilst on the side of the pool.

I still have the hats and have used them in Portugal and Spain where muni ipal pools make you wear them. It keeps the pool clezmer and tbh they are all together cleaner than UK municipal pools.

clam you can get short type speedos ( as opposed to briefs IYSWIM), which are not too bad. They just look like boxer shorts IMO. I think John Lewis does them.

We have to wear hats in our pool in the UK!

DrankSangriaInThePark · 07/07/2014 22:27

Clam, no rules about speedos in Italy. (though old permatanned men do rather like them....) Grin

So, any that one sees are voluntary? Hmm

Which pool do you go to BRS?

BikeRunSki · 08/07/2014 21:55

Scissett baths, and Total Fitness in Wakefield and Huddersfield BunBaker. Occassionally Metrodome, no hats required there.

Bunbaker · 08/07/2014 22:50

Thanks. DD sometimes swims at the Metrodome, but I don't like the changing rooms as they always smell of wee.

BikeRunSki · 08/07/2014 22:56

Agreed! The changing rooms are not nice and the whole place is hideous during school holidays.
