We are going abroad for the first time as a family and I have said that I will make activity packs for the DC. They are 12, 10, 5 (nearly 6) and 3 (4 while we are away).

So far I have got

Crayola colour wonder for the younger DC
More complicated colouring in book for the older DC
Sticker book each for the younger DC
Snacks including lollies for the take off and landing.

I have now ran out of ideas. Is there anything else that will make the journey more bearable?

There will be 3 adults and the 4 DC so plenty of people to help.

Thanks.

Word search / puzzles type books.

How long is the flight?

My DC (12 & 9) like Sudoko & puzzle books. DS loves the more complicated dot-to-dot puzzles and Where's Wally books.

They also have an i-Spy at the aiport book so they can tick off things they see.

Dare i say it? This year's crave - Loom bands. Your older DC could do basic ones on their fingers.

The flight is about 4 hours.

I have added Sudoku for kids for the older 2 DC, the I-spy book for them to share (looks great thank you) and loom bands for the older 3 as 5 year old DD is really getting into them.

I think the flight out is quite late so the younger ones might sleep but I would rather be over prepared than not have enough for them to do.

load up the older ones ipods etc with music for them, but other than that I have taken much the same as you for my 10,7 and 3 year old. Mini Aqua draw books and snap cards for my littlest and UNO for the other two. My older ones like suduko and wordsearch books too.

dd2 (age 3) also has a mini magnetic scribbler thing with her.

I think you got it covered. I agree getting ipods with music may be good. DD, 7, loved the odd movie on an ipad or we get storybooks for her uploaded on DH's iphone. She has proper headphones though.

I never needed anything for start and landing. DD sips water from a sports bottle if necessary.

I buy one new book for the flight and DD can choose a magazine or activity book at the airport.

One warning - take a second set in your luggage for the flight back.

go to the charity shop. buy lots of little age appropriate things and games. small as possible. wrap in Christmas paper. give to kids to unwrap no more than one an hour. they will love it. on the way back, rewrap and make them guess what they are. even my older kids enjoy this.
