any travel agents around? Can I book a child on a flight as an adult?

I need to fly for work. THe flight was booked and paid for by a travel agency through my office. I now need to take my 8 year old with me. The travel agency can't get through to the airline, and neither can I, do add him to my booking. I can't book him on as a child without speaking to the airline. Can I book him an adult ticket on the same flight? I will be checking in with him. It's within the EU. We have the same name.

I booked my dd as an adult on an easyjet flight because they had a special, offer on and adult fares was cheaper. Nobody said anything at all until we were on board and the air steward told me she had to sit on my knee for take off. I got to the airport a little earlier in case there was a problem but If they had asked I would have feigned ignorance.

Common sense says 'yes', but I say that with no official authority. Grin

I would think that, as he will have his own seat, your ds can be registered as an adult for now. And speculating , I would say the designation has more to do with overall estimated weight of the plane/passengers/baggage than anything else.

But, I could be completely wrong.

thank you! Well I finally got through to the airline after having booked him as an adult. First they said it was fine - they just had to link the bookings. Then said there would be a problem as he would not be allowed to check in as there was no adult officially on his booking. So they cancelled the ticket I'd bought for him, at no cost, and let me buy a slightly cheaper child seat on my booking. For a budget airline, I was impressed they were so sensible.
