I am looking to book a holiday to Germany France or even Austria in a eurotent or static/lodge type of accommodation.

I see Keycamp have merged with Eurocamp and have been looking there and also at Canvas. Is there anyone else in this market I should be looking at to compare prices get more choice?

We went with canvas last year and are going with them again in a few weeks. They are very good. The key/euro camp tents and the canvas tents were all very similar. Not sure who was cheaper.

A lot of the sites that Eurocamp/Canvas use are also available through Al Fresco (part of Tui). I've never seriously looked at their prices, so I don't know how they compare.

Sometimes the Center Parcs sites in Europe can work out as cheap as a Eurocamp lodge.

If you research which campsite you want then many of them rent out mobiles, readytents or caravans themselves. Also, google one of the bigger campsites and you will find the names of a number of different operators that have mobiles there. Vacansoleil is one that comes to mind. There can be info on tripadvisor that can help too.

One campsite in Austria I can really recommend is Natterer See. Eurocamp go there, also a Dutch operator (can't remember). They also have apartments on the campsite. Book early, is considered the best in Austria.

Agree with Sutton. Use the Keycamp website/brochure to research your site then book direct. It's much cheaper.

Also try this website:

We've used Carisma and they were great.

We used Roan for a holiday in Italy recently - Eurocamp had caravans and tents on the same site, but the Roan ones were hundreds of € cheaper for pretty much the same thing. Roan are a Dutch company but there is nothing to stop you booking with them - reps are Dutch (and they have a policy of using older reps not the very young ones, which we liked) but speak English, German and Dutch. You will end up with Dutch and German families in the caravans right next to you of course, but the sites tend to me pretty international. You do pay a whopping €100 cleaning deposit and the info brochure on arrival emphasises cleaning to a positively off putting extent - I thought I was going to be pulled up for not having cleaned well enough... but in fact the check of the caravan at the end was just the normal quick look and we got the full amount back even though it wasn't sparkling.

There are loads of these companies - I have noticed Suncamp caravans... never used them, no idea if they are any good.

It is worth shopping around - sometimes direct with the site is cheaper but often not - worth checking.

Agree with using Eurocamp to research and then booking directly with the site. We used Eurocamp last year, first class customer service but when we got there we realised how much we'd paid compared to others. The caravans were a lot older too.

This year we've booked with Charles Alexander, so much cheaper. Depends where you go, of course but Hello France are good or Brittany Ferries also do campsite accommodation. All much, much cheaper than Eurocamp.

We've used RCN before and stayed in a static in France

apermanentheadache · 18/07/2014 22:27

Definitely book direct if you can - usually better emplacements.

We have used irish operator Campotel and they were fab and cheaper than eurocamp.

bobsleighteam · 18/07/2014 22:35

when are you planning on going OP?

MissWimpyDimple · 18/07/2014 22:42

Venue are a small company that do similar holidays.

For what it's worth, key camp and eurocamp have been the same company since 2000. Literally same everything except colour of tents. They also bought and swallowed Eurosites in 2003.

Giraffeski · 18/07/2014 22:46

For static caravans Alfresco are amazing, we are using for the second time this year and it's a fair bit cheaper than eurocamp.
