DH and I drive a lot for work so would rather not in a Florida.

It is possible, but a lot less fun and easy. Driving in the US is nothing like driving in the UK, but is the easiest way of getting around. Disney World is seriously huge!

Yes it is. We gave done both and didn't encounter any problems. We made the parks for rope drop almost every morning.
I had an accident which meant I couldn't drive for a long time. We found the non driving option so much better than we thought because everyone was so negative about it before we got there - we didn't bother with car hire the next time we went either even though I could have driven.
I would recommed a condo complex where they have free sceduled transport to the parks or somewhere walkable to downtown disney from where you can get the Disney transportation.
You will save loads on car hire and parking fees.
It is very very doable but you need to research heavily where you will stay and how the Disney transportation works.

Dh and I don't drive and have been to Florida several times. Most of the hotels on I-drive offer free shuttles to the Disney parks, some of them also offer shuttles to Universal, and the I-ride trolley which goes on I-drive goes to Seaworld.

Public transport there is quite good as it is a tourist area, it is also not an especially wealthy place as most people in the hospitality industry are poorly paid so there is a real need for good public transport. There are a number of buses which go past Seaworld which go to Disney and Universal and the outlet malls. Most hotels have timetables at reception for these and the Itrolley.
There are also taxis outside most of the parks if you don't want to be dependent on the shuttle times, they are not very expensive compared to taxis here.

Hope you have fun, we did go once with a driving friend and found the car to be a total liability (we kept losing it in car parks cos it was so generic!) and the insurance was huge. Much better to have no responsibility on holiday!

I prefer it without a car. H doesn't come with us and I'm not a lover of driving. We stay on international drive and get the pass for the I trolley which takes you from one end of I drive to the other, stopping along the way. You can get to sea world and some of the water parks on the I trolley.

Most hotels offer free shuttles to either universal or Disney and cheap shuttle for the other parks.

We've stayed in holiday inn express type blocks that were good clean and serviceable with pools and we stayed in coco keys which has it's own small water park which was great for relaxing afternoons. Right opposite chucky cheese which the kids loved and I hated. Basically pizza in an arcade. Always thought it was a made up place in films.

Taxis were really cheap get fixed price ones through your hotel/apartment concierge so no haggling but remember the tip. Florida mall was $20 plus tip taxi ride or there was a bus but we didn't venture onto the bus. There's also a bus that takes you to disney!

I found we saw a lot more staying on international drive and not driving than we did driving and staying in Disney or universal hotels. Also when we stayed in a villa I found the facilities were wasted say our out all the time so things like games rooms hot tubs and pools well the hotel ones are better and of more use and you don't have to cook your own breakfast!
