We're flying long haul next week, and it would be great to get some recommendations for games that will keep the DC amused, suitable for this age group.

Ideally with an educational bent, but not necessarily. Keeping them entertained is the priority, quite frankly.

Thanks in advance. :)

Toca boca games are good for this age group. Cut the rope. Where's my water. You can also get loads of dr Suess books (sorry if my spelling is wrong) too, they can listen to the story etc.

And pou too. I've only just found this for my DD who is 9 but it's pitched at much younger. DD loves it.

Cebeebies ap is good and doesn't need wifi to be connected for it to work. DD (4) loves Cut the Rope and Where's my water, but usually wants someone to play with her. How about downloading some books to listen to on headphones.

If you get the iplayer ap you can download programs as well - they last for a month.

DD love the Disney palace pets ap, but it's about £5 for all the add ons (I made her give me the money from her piggy bank Blush)

Doesn't the aircraft have tv games and a children's channel? What did we do before an iPad was invented?

JapaneseMargaret · 24/06/2014 07:28

Presumably they do, but then you're limited to just the TV games and children's channel.

We have two iPads that will otherwise by lying dormant. It seems disengenuous not to put them to good use.

We're flying from NZ to Barcelona via three flights. We'll be travelling for well over 0 hours, with a 3.11 year old and a 5 year old. And the numerous airport stop-overs don't have tv games and a children's channel

We're keen to explore all our 'keeping-them-entertained-and-not-whining-bickering-relentlessly-fighting-with-each-other' options. :)

Anyway...

Any more helpful suggestions are more than welcome!

Toca boca seconded. I like the hairdresser one. There's also a kitchen and robots, loads. Basically get everything they make. The sounds one and the flying bird might be a bit young.

MillyMollyMama · 24/06/2014 22:33

Hmmm. You did say long haul, not a half way around the world marathon. Your poor children. I hope it is worth it.

JapaneseMargaret · 25/06/2014 08:46

?

What is NZ to Europe, if not long-haul? Is there some other way that I should be describing it...? Confused

I'm asking for recs for iPad games. That's all I'm doing. You're the one with some sort of bizarre bee in your bonnet.

Our kids are going to see their grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins, and family friends. They're escaping winter for 5 weeks. Don't worry about them; flights aside, they're going to have a ball.

Anywayyyyy, again...

Any more helpful recommendations, still more than welcome. :)

How about downloading a few films directly on to the I pad. I don't know too, but DH does.

And perhaps pack a couple pairs of headphones.

Clutterbugsmum · 25/06/2014 09:24

Sorry meant to add my 5 & 6 yr old like Where's wally.

I ask them when they get home from school if they have any other ideas.

JapaneseMargaret · 25/06/2014 09:25

Thanks, that would be great. :)
