We have 13 year old DS, mad on golf, will mainly complain about anything else but then enjoy it when he does it. Mild Aspergers. Likes his independence.
DD is 9, likes everything really, very sporty. Will try most things.
DH likes quality, 4/5 star hotels, won't camp, must have a gym, wants to chill out and relax and re charge.
I like to swim, run/walk, maybe play tennis with DD and DS if we can drag him there.
Neither DC are very good at lying in and so previous long haul holidays have resulted in very early starts, DH refusing to get out of bed and everyone getting a Bit tetchy. We haven't done long haul for a while through so I guess it might be worth a try now that they are older.

Mumsnetters always have the best ideas re holidays - can anyone recommend something that they think might suit please? We have to go second week of August onwards.

TIa,very much.

Mark warner type holiday springs to mind but you might struggle for school hols.

Neilson will also do all this; they look to be moving away from serious sailing and now just dabble, but most of their places have tennis and gym, fitness classes and kids club.

hotels will be clean and smart but don't expect serious 5 star; but who knows what that means anyway?

but they may also be jammed for the holidays.

Thanks guys. We went with Neilson last year and it was brilliant. Definitely an option to go again but I think, like you say, we've left it too late. All the good resorts will be full.
Thinking about it, that's going to be true of every option isn't it? We always leave our holiday bookings until too late and suffer this problem!

Note to self for next summer - book now!

There are great resorts in mauritius, that have their own golf courses, tennis courts, gyms and water sports for you and are 4-5 star. Funnily enough we love neilsons too have been on 3 of them, but went to mauritius last year for the same price as neilsons I kid you not and it was fab.

Hmmmm I am afraid I don't know! Have a google!

Friends of ours recommend Club la Santa in Lanzarote. Think the accommodation was a bit basic but they've built some snazzy new apartments. Probably full for this summer, though.

La Manga - lots of sports clubs , tennis and I think golfy stuff. Villas are seriously high quality or you could stay at the hotel - but I think as a family it would be better to have a villa - looks like there is still availability www.jamesvillas.co.uk/destinations/spain/costa-calida/la-manga-club#tabTop

Thanks poisoned, that's an old favourite of ours pre children. We are going to go back ASAP but just waiting for a big refurbishment that they've been doing to be completely finished. And yes, it fills up really quickly!

Sorry rookie, crossed posts. Another pre kids one for us! I'll take a look, thank you.

You could try Abama in Tenerife or Forte Village in Sardinia, both good sporty ones

I'll take a look. Thank you
