Looking to take my partner (soon to be a mum) on a short spa break, you know, some nicey stuff before the real hard work starts.....

anyone suggest somewhere good?

We are based in essex, but would go to bath or that kind of distance

The thermal spa in bath Is not suitable for pregnant women I don't think, most spa places aren't. Could skip the spa and just have a treatment but in that case I wouldn't bother with the bath thermae spa. Spas and pregnant women don't mix!

Hoarcross hall is fab ... yes you can't do the saunas etc but there is so much other stuff to do there (yoga/ relaxation classes/ archery/ beautiful grounds). The mum to be package includes a 3 course lunch and 1hr massage.

Careys Manor in the New Forest is fabulous.

Congham Hall in Norfolk. Absolutely lovely, great food, and the spa has special prenatal treatments.

Seconding the rec for Hoar Cross Hall. Heavenly! I go every year with my DM. It's up in Staffordshire, not not to be missed. Also significantly cheaper than many spa hotels in the Home Counties. Still not cheap, but cheaper. Good luck with the baby, OP. And congrats to you and your DW.

I went to the Bath Spa at 3 months pregnant... The only area you need to avoid is the steam and sauna rooms. Everything else is fine and I had a lovely treatment.

There are much nicer spas though! Four Seasons in Hampshire springs to mind.

Lucknam Park, just outside Bath has the most wonderful spa.

The food in the Brasserie is wonderful but their is also a Michelin star restaurant too.

I use top hotels a lot and this is wonderful. Even if you can't have many of the treatments it is still lovely.

Pennyhill Park has an award winning spa, rooms are nice too but I wouldn't go for a Rugby room. Again lots to do in spa without paying extra.

Chewton Glen is amazing too but a little further.

Have fun. I loved my pre baby spa weekend. Grin

Do confirm that they are happy to do treatments on pregnant women though - a few years ago, DH tried to book me some spa/massage treatments when we were on holiday near Hastings, and even the treatments specifically aimed at pregnant women could not be done without a medical certificate saying the doctor was happy with it. As we were travelling from out of the UK, we couldn't get a certificate on time/in English.

Ooh, seconding the rec for Lucknam Park. Fab spa!

Adding my voice to the chorus of find out exactly how genuinely welcoming any spa is to pregnant guests before booking. Ask lots of questions.

OP, you sounds like a good, kind man, wanting to take your DP away to a spa so she can relax pre-baby. Best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy and congrats on your impending fatherhood.
